Dating Was Complicated

Getting a date was a complicated undertaking. A guy couldn’t just saunter up to a young lady and ask her. He had to sweat for about five days before getting the guts to call her on the phone. I remember being worried she might say no, and then where would I be?

We could only date on Friday and Saturday nights since the rest of the week was reserved for homework. There was also a curfew of 10 or 11 p.m., depending on instructions issued bygirl’s father.
