Hide locked WhatsApp chats with a secret code
One of the most useful features WhatsApp introduced in 2023 was Chat Lock. As we explained in Issue 659 (page 44), this lets you hide your private conversations from nosy parkers by moving them to a secure folder. This can only be accessed using the password or biometric method (such as your face or fingerprint) that you use to unlock your phone.
The ‘Locked chats’ folder appears at the top of the Chats tab and is easily revealed by swiping down. To make things more secure, WhatsApp now lets you hide the folder, so it can only be viewed by entering a secret code. This is different to your phone’s passcode, so it gives your locked chats extra protection ifgains access to your device.
