Sojourns Through History

Our yearly pilgrimage to a favorite American history destination is more than a family tradition—it’s a reminder “that the future may learn from the past.” That’s the mission statement for Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, where we have made so many wonderful memories. All the activities in this charming place allow visitors to interact with days gone by and learn about the foundations of our country. Wonderful historical interpreters dressed in period costumes lead tours and talks on all sorts of topics, including civic engagement and preservation of artifacts from the Revolutionary period.

One of our family’s fondest memories is a Christmas card we made of our visit to Williamsburg. We dressed up our daughter, Rose, in a frilly white cap and our son, Jack, in a tricorn hat and photographed them standing near the stocks where Colonial prisoners were held.
