What does it take to become a pilot?

Ask children what they want to be when they grow up, and one of the careers you'll often hear is an airline pilot. To achieve it is another story.

The hurdle for most people is the cost of obtaining a commercial pilot's licence, which at present is in excess of £100,000 – not money most of us have readily available.
