Here’s a question for any readers who might happen to be the parents of elementary school-aged children: Do you also approach School Picture Day with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety—but mostly anxiety? I certainly do, although that may be because my kids have a tendency to make silly faces in photos. I don’t know if they do it intentionally, or if sitting in front of a camera just naturally makes their weirdness come out. This past week, my son brought home this year’s portrait, and his expression included a look that can only be described as “crazy eyes.” Needless to say, we’re planning on having him go to the “retake” session, and we’re crossing our fingers that the second attempt turns out better.
