About this audiobook
From legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA master Rickson Gracie comes a riveting, insightful memoir that weaves together the story of Gracie’s stunning career with the larger history of the Gracie family dynasty and the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, showing how the connection between mind and body can be harnessed for success both inside and outside the ring.
Undefeated from the late 1970s through his final fight in the Tokyo Dome in 2000, Rickson Gracie amassed hundreds of victories in the street, on the mat, at the beach, and in the ring. He has joined the pantheon that includes Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and Jackie Chan as one of the most famous martial artists of the twentieth century. Jiu-Jitsu, the fighting style developed and pioneered by his family, has become one of the world’s most prominent martial arts, and Vale Tudo, the “anything goes” style of Brazilian street fighting over which the Gracies had a monopoly, was an early precursor to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Simply put, without the Gracie family, there would be no sport of “MMA,” no 4-billion-dollar UFC empire, and no “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu” at strip malls all across America.
In Breathe, for the first time, Rickson will share the full story of how his father and uncles came to develop Jiu-Jitsu, what it was like to grow up among several generations of world-renowned fighters from the Gracie clan, and the principles and skills that guided him to his undefeated record. From learning to assert himself on the streets of Rio to gaining fame and honor in Japan and emerging through heartbreaking tragedy, the martial arts master shares tales of overcoming challenges, extolling universal virtues and showing readers how pride and ego are the enemies of success.
With profound insights into the sport and way of life that only a studied legend can provide, Breathe is an entertaining and magnified view of an enduring legacy as well as an inspiring tale of weathering life’s complexities and overcoming them with style and grace.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Rickson Gracie was my teacher in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at both his West Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades jiu jitsu Academy. In this book is some of Rickson finest work. I remember training under Rickson and watching his oldest son Rockson Gracie train with the adult classes that is Pacific Palisades Jiu-Jitsu school. It was right before Rickson final fight in Tokyo Japan . Rockson, using the jiu-jitsu and breathing techniques that is father taught him totally controlled the MMA fighters that were showing up to Rickson school. This is the book you want ~ if you cannot train with Rickson Gracie. As a student of yoga since the 1970s from the Chinmaya Mission India. Studying the ancient breathing techniques of yoga and then from Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Rickson Gracie. I have discovered at breathing is a very important factor with Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Now please enjoy this book from my teacher Grand Master Rickson Gracie.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I rather enjoyed this book. Simple man telling his very tough life. I practice Jiu Jitsu so I am most certainly biased but if you want to see what true dedication looks life over someone’s life then this is a good read.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was reflective, insightful, and eye-opening for a bjj white belt who can barely roll 5 rounds. Rickson Gracie is a legend from a legendary family and gives his view of old-school bjj culture. Nowadays he teaches fundamentals to beginners and takes instagram pics with his wife Cassia to sell his brand, but this book helped me appreciate Gracie jiu jitsu and inspired me to become more spiritual through yoga asana.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Gave me insight into a sport I'm passionate in. Thank you Rickson Gracie. - Zeph.

-This book reveals a critical part of the roots of BJJ.
-If you practice BJJ, Rickson’s story is a history of the years before the publicity of UFC 1 and Japan’s Pride.
- Rickson reveals the psychological side of his BJJ practice.
- Finally, and most importantly to me, he is honest in this book. Here are triumphs and tragedies of his life. And his approach to overcome the difficulties of life.
I will buy the hard copy for my library.
Thank you Rickson Gracie.
