America’s most effective conservative intellectual proves once and for all that Marxist radicals have taken over our nation's institutions.
In the 1960s, Mao launched China’s Cultural Revolution. Cities grew overcrowded. Technocrats demanded progress from above. Anyone opposed was sent to be “re-educated.” China’s revolution was bloody, fast, and a failure, but what if America started a revolution at the same time, based on the same bad ideas, and it’s just been slower, calmer, and more effective?
In his powerful new book, Christopher F. Rufo uncovers the hidden history of left-wing intellectuals and activists who systematically took control of America’s institutions to undermine them from within. America’s Cultural Revolution finally answers so many of the questions normal Americans have, such as:
• Why is nearly every major corporation bending the knee to a far-left agenda?
• How did DEI suddenly become the department no institution can continue without?
• Why is race the main thing America’s rich, white elite wants to talk about?
• When did the left adopt all this doublespeak, saying progress is a lack of progress, equality is not equality, speech is violence, and violence is speech?
• Has the goal of the left, for a century, actually been the destruction of every Western institution?
Readers may not know the names of Herbert Marcuse, Angela Davis, Paulo Freire, and Derrick Bell, but they will recognize the ideas they spread. How their radical, destructive ideology slowly worked its way from prisons to academia to classrooms to your human resources department will come as a shock.
Failing to act soon, Rufo warns, could allow the radical left to achieve their ultimate objective: replacing constitutional equality with a race-based redistribution system overseen by bureaucratic ‘diversity and inclusion’ officials. Most Americans don’t want this, but most Americans are no longer in control of our institutions. If the mainstream media’s depiction of a failing dystopia in need of a fresh start never sounded right to you, this expose and call to arms is the book you’ve been looking for.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A clear, logical presentation of the origin, content, and goals of critical race theory. For the first time, I understand the methods of this insidious attack on American government and culture. Eye-opening, frightening, encouraging, challenging, this book is well written, and read by an excellent narrator. A MUST FOR EVERY PARENT AND TEACHER!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5At last! Having been absorbed by this book from start to finish, I now understand well enough the genesis and intellectual roots of this “diversity - inclusion - equality” mantra we read about in the media. Thank you Mr. Rufo. As a thinker, writer and journalist you have done a great service to humanity. It was interesting to learn that the intellectuals behind this revolutionary movement developed their ideas in parallel with the Cultural Revolution inspired by Marxism-Leninism in China. It ended when the “capitalist roader” Deng Xiaopeng miraculously took charge in about 1977, freeing the nation from the grip of the ideologically-possessed “gang of four” including Mao’s wife. Before then it was tearing the country apart due to enforced political correctness. America is now being torn apart by the same kind of Cultural Revolution engineered by neo-Marxist academics and intellectuals from the 1060’s and 1970’s. Rufo has convinced me more than ever that “cultural Marxism” is a thing, it is real, and it will eventually come to an ignominious end in America - as it did in China - when enough people of influence have read this book. I think in the long term, the US Constitution will protect America from the Hell arising from the death of God and the death of freedom of speech and freedom of expression. This book can give us optimism that eventually the “diversity-inclusion-equality” power grab by neo-Marxist atheists will be seen by future historians as a dead-end road that lead to the degradation and degeneration of post-Enlightment culture, and the Christian Ethos that was responsible for the abolition of slavery and for the notion of “In God we Trust” as engraved for all time in the US Constitution,
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book. Much more philosophical and detailed than books by other conservatives like Matt Walsh, or Ben Shapiro
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is an important book. It does an excellent job of cataloging how we got here and describing what the cultural revolution actually is. And finally, in the last chapter, proposes some strategies of how to overcome this madness.
