About this audiobook

The cast of characters in this compilation is a menagerie of animals... cats, dogs, birds, even a dragon... and their owners. These stories look at the myriad of experiences, and adventures, that pet ownership can bring. Join a medieval scholar who discovers that not all mythical creatures are extinct, stalk the night with the Cat of Frankenstein, kick that caffeine habit with a class of kindergartners, dance along with a divorcee and her dog, and more!

Of all of the Selected Shorts compilations I've listened to, this was the only one that really didn't keep too much on theme. Some of the stories had only a very fleeting animal character that didn't have much to do with the rest of the story. The narrators were all great, but I found the stories lackluster with the exception of the one by Robertson Davies, which made me laugh out loud, and Max Steele's, which was deeply touching.

Some of the stories I found just weird. Others were really funny. The stories aren't really about pets, but are more short stories that have pets in them. One thing I found distracting was that the audio had the audiences laughter recorded. To me it took away from the story.
