He is faculty chair of MIT's IDEAS program; visiting professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing; and a cofounder of the Global Wellbeing and Gross National Happiness Lab, which links innovators from Bhutan, India, China, Brazil, Europe, and the United States to prototype profound innovations in government, business, education, and civil society. He is the coauthor of Leading from the Emerging Future and Presence.

      he Essentials of Theory U emerged as a 160-page alternative to the 500-page Theory U proper. The book is mainly about the principles and premises of the Theory created by Otto Scharmer. Basically Otto Scharmer's work is about leadership as a capacity rather than a role, and especially not a role of a single individual.
