About this audiobook
Sometimes you’re so busy writing other people’s stories that you lose the plot of your own.
This wasn’t how Kelsey Worthington’s day was supposed to go. She wasn’t supposed to be picking up Starbucks for her smarmy boss. She wasn’t supposed to get hit by a car that jumped the curb. And she certainly wasn’t supposed to wake up in a hospital room next to Georgina Tate—the legendary matriarch of New York City businesswomen.
Kelsey and Georgina couldn’t be more opposite. Kelsey’s a dreamer, a writer who questions her own skill. And Georgina is a confident businesswoman whose years of shouldering her way into boardrooms and making her voice heard have made her far too outspoken for the faint of heart.
But now, when Georgina’s failing kidneys force her to face some big regrets about the way she’s lived her life, the two women recognize they share a common thread. Maybe it’s time to confront a few things. They must ask themselves: What if I said yes to everything I’ve always said no to?
With Georgina as her companion, Kelsey soon finds herself doing things she’s never done before. Eating street food. Swimming in the ocean. Matchmaking for Georgina with the help of Georgina’s handsome son. And writing her own romance—both in book form and in real life.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delightful, hope lifting, love inspiring book about daring to grasp a second chance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5DELIGHTFUL, HEARTWARMING, & ENJOYABLE!Best-selling author Courtney Walsh brings readers one of this summer's most delightful, heartwarming, and enjoyable reads! Courtney’s brilliant plot is so unconventional, but when you stop and think about it, you realize it is a summer everyone wishes they could have. Two unlikely women from two generations apart share a hospital room. Kelsey is young and stuck in her job and life. Georgina is a legendary NY businesswoman. Georgina is stuck, too, because her kidneys are failing, and she requires dialysis. While Georginia has been a business success, her personal life is full of regrets. Kelsey comes up with a way to bring a significant change in both their lives. She proposes “The Summer of Yes.” The premise is: What if they say YES to everything I've always said no to? What follows is a delightful, heartwarming, and enjoyable journey of self-discovery for both women. Each of them learns to say “Yes” to things they never thought possible, and their lives change forever. New friendships become like family, and old relationships slowly find their way to restoration. The biggest surprise is an overabundance of love waiting for both women.Thomas Nelson and NetGalley provided me with a complimentary copy of this book. However, I have no influence over the opinions expressed here.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was expecting something similar to The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley but this book has a completely different feel. Not bad different, just different. First person voices of Kelsey and Georgina are complete opposites and the snarky banter is fun. Georgina’s personal assistant JP has a dry sense of humor which is quite delightful. The banter between Hayden and Kelsey is really fun and Kelsey’s hyperdrive writer imagination that conjures romcom situations and far off circumstances is quite hilarious. Self-realization and rescue from fear happen even as idea of death and terrible regrets loom. I loved the reconciliation and redemption integrated into the plot, even if faith is not explicitly mentioned. It’s another winner from Courtney Walsh! I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Thomas Nelson via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh is the funny and uplifting story of Kelsey Worthington, a struggling writer trapped in an associate editors job she hates, and how she overcomes her fears and phobias by deciding to say 'YES' to life's adventures rather than her usual fearful 'NO'. Kelsey has a life changing experience when she is hit by a car one day and ends up in the hospital with a famous and famously cantankerous old woman named Georgina Tate. Kelsey and Georgina are wary of each other and couldn't be more different, but somehow they become friends who go off on a life adventure determined to say yes to things that scare them rather than their proverbial no. This is difficult for both of them as they both have many regrets, some more serious than others in their lives. But as they travel together they begin to open up to each other about their own live's disappointments, many created because they have both been held back by fear. This is a sweet and inspiring novel that encourages the reader to go forth in life with love, compassion and a lot less fear to make the most of life, because you really only get one go around. I enjoyed the characters, the narration and the message of this book very much. The author gives us all very good advice. 4.5 stars. Many thanks to Net Galley and HarperCollins Christian Publishing | Thomas Nelson Fiction for a chance to listen/read an ARC version of this novel.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Providence brings Kelsey and Georgina together in a totally unexpected way. The near-death experience of one and the imminent death of the other helps them forge an unusual relationship as they both contemplate all of the things they have missed in life by saying no. Walsh helps her readers understand the importance of saying yes when it means living life to its fullest. She also urges them to examine and adjust their priorities. This story wasn't my typical read. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't say I was passionate about it. I did appreciate the themes of the story. The writing was crisp and flowed smoothly. I feel comfortable recommending it to readers who enjoy contemporary women's fiction. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of The Summer of Yes from Thomas Nelson without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
