Can I Just Have A Little Bit - Deirdre Gilbert
INTRODUCTION
This book is for those out there looking for answers. It seems
sometimes that we want to know what in the world is going on, but no one seems to have any answers or the right answer. I was compelled to write this book seeing that so many of my friends and associates were just running around like a chicken with their necks cut off. Let me be truthful. I was too. Yeah running and not knowing which direction we should go. Most of us are trying to figure out how to change this. It wasn’t easy. I admit that I almost lost my mind, but God put his hand out and helped me make it through.
I have every intention to be real for we all know that we always seem to get the watered down picture or just want to hide our faces from the shame and the disappointments. I have always wanted to know the truth about certain things but people didn’t want to be real so it kept me looking for some answers, things that keep me captive. I hope that when you finish reading this book that you will find that peace, actually you will find God who is the peace and the sole proprietor of your soul. The scriptures that are quoted are not just in vain, but intended to give you the Word as the Lord wants it to be told. The secular world even knows the word but how do we take it and use it as an avenue to connecting with Christ. We even know people who know the Bible inside out and still are not free. This book is intended to share real situations and to let you know that you are not alone. So let this book guide you, protect and transform you into the man or a woman after God’s own heart.
If you want a little bit or just a little bit more, follow me.

Can a believer fall away?
—Rev. T.R. Williams
It is impossible for those who have been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God, and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. —Hebrews 6:4
Many interpreters find this passage difficult because, while some believe that it refers solely to Christians who fall away from their faith, others insist that the author of Hebrews referred to people who never fully embraced Christianity. Throughout this book, you and I will focus on both as we explore these two questions: What happens to those Christians who fall away from their faith?
What becomes of those who fail to embrace Christianity?
It’s rough carrying the Word
It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God". Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.
— Deuteronomy 8:3.
Christians are instructed to live by faith and not by sight. This calling creates rough paths and difficult challenges as we struggle between right living and worldly pleasures. Sometimes, it seems as though, when life starts to drag us down, just as we decide to give up, God says, Wait.
Friends, we must wait until the Holy Ghost comes upon us before we can receive our blessing. We cannot carry the Word by ourselves, nor can we play with God. It’s rough carrying the Word of God in our hearts, because the Word of the Lord is a powerful source of information, and satan knows that. That is why satan doesn’t want us to get to know who God is, or the depth of His strength. Satan loves to keep us in darkness; guessing whether or not God can be trusted.
The good news is that God knows our weaknesses. Because of our weaknesses, He warns us against falling away. If you are not grounded in the Word, prepare to fall off that cliff if you haven’t fallen already. The author of Hebrews issues a vital warning about falling away:
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Therefore, let us leave the elementary teaching about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith of God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. —Hebrews 5:11-14 & Hebrews 6:2.
The author of Hebrews wants you to understand that you must believe in eternal security. You must be able to prepare yourself for spiritual battles every day. The Bible is not saying that you have to put on your helmet and sword and go out looking for a fight, but God does say that you need to pray. You must be prayed up,
because you will have to deal with all kinds of things, personalities, and spirits that will come upon you at work, home, church, and even on the streets. So you better be prayed up, and be prepared for those times when demons come after you. Be aware that demons don’t come at you the same way—today from the left, tomorrow on the right—because they don’t fight fair. Those little demons just don’t come the same way.
God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall.
\—2 Peter 1:3-10.
