About this ebook
9 female, 5 male cast! Flat rate royalty - $5 per performance by school or community theater groups!
Jane Eyre is a classic novel that has earned high praise for it's depiction of a strong female main character.
This stage adaptation is specifically written for school productions in public or charter schools with more girls interested in drama than boys (as is often the case in school drama clubs). The script calls for nine female and five male actors -- but it is designed for flexibiity (fewer can be used if necessary and more can be added if wanted). A production of this play will run less than an hour and would be an excellent choice for new drama groups looking for a simple, interesting play to stage.
Formatting Note: This script is in a simplified script format to accommodate the widest possible variety of e-readers, some of which cannot support some aspects of commonly accepted play script formats.
Paul Olson
Paul Olson is the author of many plays which have been produced around the United States. He is the author of a play based on the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, that has been produced in multiple locations in Michigan. His play, "The Dry" (inspired by the Barnes-Hecker mine disaster) was produced as a joint project of the Peninsula Arts Appreciate Council and the Michigan Iron Industry Museum. Most recently his play, "Revolutionary Brassiere" told the history of a women's undergarment factory in a rural mining town. Science Fiction Double Feature is an anthology of 10 minute plays based on classic literary science fiction and offer opportunities for a variety of cast sizes and levels of technical expertise. Dracula, A Christmas Carol, and Jane Eyre are especially created for less-experienced acting groups in schools, community colleges, and community theaters. They are designed to give beginning theater groups an opportunity to present stories with "name recognition" that will appeal to audiences and provide a satisfying challenge to young thespians. He is a social worker in rural Michigan.
