About this ebook
Sandi and Kiera are best friends and live together in Sandi's apartment. Sandi is a successful model and her photographer is in need of more models. She's had strong feelings for Kiera ever since they moved in together, but she's kept those feelings to herself. She'd like nothing better than to help Kiera realize she'd be better off with a female who loved her. A second job as a model would allow her to save more money and realize how beautiful she is.
Sandi's relationships with men were ruined long before she even hit her teens and the men in Kiera's life only keep her around when they need to abuse someone. Kiera has tried to make her relationships work, yet unsure of why they don't.
Can they become closer if they shared even more?

Sneak Peek - New Horizons
Chapter One
Sandi sat in a dimly lit corner of the crowded bar. The heavy metal music blared too loud for her taste, and her chest vibrated with every beat of the drums. Through a smoky haze, she watched those out dancing as they gyrated with the thunderous music. Voluptuous women wearing low-cut, clingy dresses drew her attention, and she tightened her Kegels as she tapped a red stir stick on the table. Couples at nearby tables made eyes at each other, shared a kiss or two—or even engaged in a screaming match in front of everyone.
Sandi turned her attention to the couple she’d come in with. Disgust brought bile to her throat. Greg ogled women on the dance floor instead of giving the proper attention to the beautiful woman at his side. Kiera watched the dancers, too, but had pulled in her lower lip, a sign Sandi knew all too well meant that Kiera wasn’t comfortable.
Why did I agree to come here again tonight with Kiera and Greg?
Sandi swallowed and took in his square, unshaven jawline, combed-back blond hair, and tight t-shirt that hugged his muscular chest and tattooed arms. Greg drooled over every woman in the bar while ignoring her best friend. Sandi was sure he imagined fucking some stranger right there on the floor instead of being with Kiera tonight. Their stormy relationship would never get better, because he’d never be a one-woman man, and Kiera couldn’t see that yet.
Sandi clenched her jaw. Relationships with men had ruined Sandi long ago. As a child, her stepfather thought it okay to sit naked on her bed and proceed to teach her about life as a woman. Since when did a child need to learn about adult sex so early? Whenever she refused to participate, he’d beat her mother and leave her bruised for days. A shiver ran down her spine. The man was lucky he’d abandoned them when he did or Sandi would have killed him herself if she’d owned a gun back then! Most men just wanted one thing and didn’t give a shit about making a relationship work. Finding a new one was easier.
She made a fist and her nails dug into her palms.
Even after all these years, those memories still haunted her. Egotistical men just made her stomach turn, and Greg fit right into that category. Sandi watched Kiera, wondering why she couldn’t be stronger and see what kind of man he really was.
Kiera took a pull from her whiskey glass and then raked her fingers through her long, dark hair. She stared for a moment at the back of Greg’s head. You should quit gawking and go ask one of them to dance. Obviously, I’m not who you want to be with.
Greg turned to stare at her for a moment, grabbed his beer, and curled his upper lip. At least maybe they aren’t a bitch all the time.
She shrugged a shoulder. I can find my own way home tonight. Get the hell out of here.
Sandi chewed the stir stick as she laughed to herself. The asshole didn’t waste time and stormed off to the other side of the bar, leaving them alone in the dark corner.
Can I convince Kiera that best friends didn’t treat each other like that?
Shutting out the crowd around them, she reached across the table to squeeze Kiera’s hand, sick of seeing the same thing happen to her time and again. You know he’s a jerk, right?
I know. Why am I always attracted to assholes?
Because that’s how you were treated growing up.
Not wanting to scare her, Sandi pulled her arm back and sipped her own Jack and Coke. She wanted to hug and comfort Kiera. We share an apartment. I’ve known you long enough to see a few of the boyfriends you’ve picked up, hon—not good.
Sandi looked into Kiera’s blue eyes and saw her pain.
I can’t say I’ve ever dated a nice guy. I don’t think they make those kind anymore.
Kiera finished her Jack and ordered them both another round. Look at the two women over there. They seem happy, and you can tell they’re together.
Sandi glanced across the dimly lit bar as one stroked the forearm of the other. If only she could be that close to Kiera, she knew they could be happy. Right now, at least she had her as a best friend. Kiera needed to get her head straight before Sandi could approach her about changing their relationship and becoming more than best friends. Those two know that women can be as happy as a man and a woman, but relationships can be difficult no matter what gender you are.
Maybe being single for a while would do me good. Having a man around anymore just makes me crazy.
The low tank top Kiera wore displayed a deep cleavage that Sandi couldn’t take her eyes from. Living with Kiera had given her more than one glimpse of her naked body, making her wish she’d made a move long ago. I know your work at the attorney’s office keeps you busy, but you should come down to the gym with me. Working out relieves stress and clears your mind so you can think about what you need. Nobody else can make you happy if you’re not happy with yourself first.
Sandi leaned back in her chair to watch the other women on the dance floor and spotted Greg at the bar with his hand on some woman’s ass.
Let it go—it’s not my problem.
Kiera gave her empty glass to the waitress, took her fresh drink, and leaned forward to yell over the music. You always seem to be in control and happy with your life, so exercising must do something for you besides keeping you in great shape. How’s that kick-boxing class going?
Sandi loved her class, and the fact that it could be used on a man in a dark alley made it that much more fun. It’s going great. You should join. It’d be one less night Greg could bother you.
Kiera shook her head, yet her eyes spoke of regret. He hates it when I’m not available if he calls.
Sandi slammed her palm on the table and leaned in. "If he calls should be the warning for you, dammit. That’s allowing him to control you, and that needs to stop right now, Kiera. Quit answering your phone every time he calls you. He just proved
