About this ebook

SOMETHING IS KEEPING STEVE FROM SAYING GOOD-BYE

Steve has been called home to see his mother one last time before she passes away. Around him his family is grieving—but he can’t find the strength to let go.

Though every part of him wants to, something inside will not allow him to grieve—or to heal. As his mother’s final moments pass by, Steve must find the courage to move on, or regret his silence forever.

Garrett Robinson

Garrett Robinson was born in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his childhood and into adulthood, he was encouraged to learn by his parents, who not only ensured he had access to thousands of books whenever he wanted, but who traveled with him around the world and helped him do so once he was out in the world on his own. Throughout high school, Garrett excelled in creative writing, churning out millions of words and far surpassing all of his classmates. After school, Garrett discovered a love of, and has had a budding career in the independent film industry. In today's digital age, however, he has discovered that new creative models are necessary to succeed. To that end, he has begun turning all of his film ideas into self-published books, in hopes of drumming up support and readership for the stories he has created.

Scott sat in the waiting room. His mind raced through the infinite reasons he wanted to be anywhere else.

The hospital’s air conditioning kicked on. A draft blew through the vent to his right. It tickled the tip of his nose as it passed. Absent-mindedly, his hand came up to brush against the offending appendage, dusting against three-day stubble. The air had done so dozens of times in the last three hours. His hand had repeated the motion every time. And yet if asked, he certainly wouldn’t have known it was happening.

His eyes were fixed on a stain on the opposite wall. It was a dark brown. Maybe once it had been red. Red like blood. Why not? They weren’t far from the ER. Maybe there was some splatter from a passing patient. Or maybe someone with a cut fell against the wall, leaving a smear. It was a hospital. Things like that happened.

Or maybe it was just coffee. Whatever it was, everyone but Scott ignored it. Doctors and nurses walked by. Patients and families walked by. None
