    Chapter 1: A background on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

    Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is the sixth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series of games. It was released in 2013 and serves as a sequel to Assassin’s creed III’s modern storyline, released in 2012 and a prequel to its historical storyline, at the same time. It is described as an action-adventure historical game and can be played on gaming platforms such as Xbox 360, Wii U and Playstation 3 during its initial release, and then months after, it also became available for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows platforms.

    The first setting of the game is 18th century Caribbean, often called the Golden Age of Piracy. It revolves around the story of Edward Kenway, a pirate and who is also the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III’s Ratonhake Ton who saw how the conflict started between the Templars and Assassins. The biggest difference between this game and its predecessors is that the gameplay of this one focuses on using the open-world map (an open world map denotes the capability of a player to roam around a virtual world and is given the chance to decide how he wants to attain his objectives and complete his missions) and exploring the ship.
