About this ebook

Who Are You? Moving Beyond Pain to True Happiness and Self-Discovery

Who are you? This is often one of the hardest questions for people to answer in truth. We often answer with our roles saying, “I am a mother.” Or our careers saying, “I am a lawyer.”

However, whenever you truly think about all the different aspects of yourself you quickly realize that you are much more than all of these things put together can define.

In “Who Are You? Moving Beyond Pain to True Happiness and Self-Discovery” we explore the question of who you really are and what truly identifies us.

Through the practice exercises and techniques mentioned in this book, you will learn how to:
- Live in the present more.
- Let go of the painful past
- Realize the happiness, freedom and love you so desire.
All while living in the moment and enjoying every minute!

Who Are You? Moving Beyond Pain to True Happiness and Self-Discovery - Jamie Best

    Introduction

The term self is thrown around quite casually now-a-days. You often hear phrases like Be true to yourself or  Be honest with yourself in faux inspirational books.

All of this is good but what exactly is self?

Is self our origin? Should we be true to our origin?

Is self our profession? Should we be professionally sound?

Is self our inner emotions? Should we be always honest about our emotions?

The question is much more complicated than it seems at first glance. Psychologists, philosophers and religions have time and again attempted to answer this question. We are not here to comment on their efforts and findings. Instead this book was written to help you undertake a journey to finding your true self. You and only you can do this!

You might underestimate yourself. You might think that you are not qualified enough or not adept enough but finding yourself is not about how many books you have read or how many college degrees you have. It is about keeping a clear mind and looking inside you with pure honesty.

This book will take you on that journey, chapter by chapter. Each chapter will prod you to analyse your existence and evaluate your life.

By the time you finish this book, I can only hope that you learn something that you previously weren't aware of.

    Let us begin!

    Chapter 1 – Waking UP

    The inner voice

Take a deep breath and try to keep your mind completely blank for a complete minute.

    Difficult, isn't it?

Thoughts of one kind or the other keep on popping in your head. Against your wishes, you begin to start thinking about penguins in Antarctica or elephants in Africa. You start to worry about the world affairs and the condition of the traffic early morning bothers you. All of these things do not directly concern you. You cannot control them, yet your mind chooses to spend so much time and energy into thinking these thoughts.

    Ever wondered why?

For most of us, this voice inside our heads has been our constant companion. It has been with us since day one. It never left our side. However, now that we focus on it, the question arises that who is this voice?

Is it us? Is it a manifestation of us? Does the voice define us?

The answer to all these three questions is No. The voice is not us and it definitely does not define us.

Think about it, how many times has the voice said things that you don't agree to. It's not uncommon that the voice has plotted intricate schemes of revenge when you have been wronged. However, if called to action, would you actually act upon those intricate schemes? I can say with certainty that you wouldn't. You would not go out and shoot somebody in the head just
