Chapter ONE
I know you are feeling down, baby girl, but try to pull it together for those lovely grandchildren of mine,
her Mom was telling her over the phone. Faith tried to let that soak in as she plopped down in the leather recliner sitting by the living room window. She pulled the cord to open the blinds and let a little of the sunshiny day in. Her boys were outside playing with happy squeals of laughter filling the air.
Concentrate on them right now, sweetie. They are your sole reason for living and they are going to need you to help them understand why their daddy is no longer around,
her Mom continued. Faith listened to the soothing patient voice of her mother and she knew that she was right. As Faith looked out at her boys with adoration a rushing feeling of overwhelming love gushed up inside of her. She knew she would do anything to keep them covered, to protect them.
But how do I get him back, Mom?
she asked in a tattered voice, weary with grief.
Her Mom answered without pause, You don’t get him back, baby. If a man strays, he knows how to come slinking back home if you let him...I need to tell you something that happened a long time ago...
Faith sat with the phone receiver glued to her ear waiting for her mother to drop the bomb because her mother sounded very serious.
