About this ebook

Season 1 Finale. War!
The Norsemen are invading from the north, Lucid’s warriors from the east, with Thor and Asteri coming from west and south.

All racing towards Michael’s vastly outnumbered Guardians waiting at Monte Sancto.

In the middle of all this our heroes can do little more than watch from the hillside. Their mission is to protect Lady Bony Ass and the baby and that’s what they’ll do. To their death. Which won’t be long coming when the slaughtering begins.

And in Eden, Lucifer watches and waits. Whoever is victorious, he will win.

    War!

Lucifer sat on a bench in the Senate roof garden with a beer and a tub of popcorn, ready to watch the show. There’d been flowers all around when he’d arrived, but they’d become depressed and dejected and wilted away. Odd that.

He brushed a corn husk off his black robe and eased himself into a more comfortable position. It might take a while for everybody to get through slaughtering each other. He wasn’t good at waiting, it was always so tedious. Then he had an idea and chuckled. And the last resolute plant flopped onto the soil.

He put his beer on the arm of the bench, careful not to spill any even though he could’ve magicked another up pretty quick. There was no point wasting stuff just because there was more where it came from. Well, that was what his old mom used to say. He checked his sandals to make sure they were fastened and clean. Something his mother always insisted on. He really missed her sometimes. Like now. She loved him and was always there to brush his hair from his eyes and kiss the pain away when he fell. The best mother anybody could have. A frown formed above his jet-black eyebrows. Should he be sorry for turning her into a pillar of salt? No, he decided, she’d been old, her best years behind her, mostly cross and forgetful. She would’ve thanked him. And she seemed to be content in the garden, standing next to the waterfall, a bit grey, being salt, but almost majestic. He wiped a tear from his eye and looked around to make sure nobody had seen. No chance of that, the populace of the Trinity were hiding in their cellars or trying to leg it out of the city. Waste of effort, though, because when the slaughter got going, it wouldn’t be constrained by a few walls. If they’d just get on with it.

    The idea.

He tutted at his failing memory. It was an age thing, and being stuck in the bottomless pit hadn’t helped much. It was cold there at night, even with all that molten lava bubbling up everywhere. Made no sense. And the howling and wailing. He’d swear he hadn’t slept a wink the whole time. So of course he was irritable, who could blame him? Let them try, just one of them, that’s all.

The idea. Just do it. Easier said than done though. What with all that sitting around and doing nothing for years, not even a decent book to read, no wonder he’d lost the knack of magicking things up. Typical though, losing it just when he really needed it to do good. Always the same, you have all these powers and spells and stuff and just when you need them, there they are gone. The old witch with the crooked nose had told him about a potion she swore by to get it all working again. But where’s the old witch when you needed her? Gone, that’s where. Eye of newt, wasn’t it? Or was it testicle of toad? Something like that, and other bits of various creatures. No, it was gone. Note to self, turn the old witch into… And that was another problem. What could he turn her into that she wasn’t already? Old, tick; ugly,
