Escapism
Generally speaking, there is nothing wrong with escapism. For many people, the desire to melt away from reality for a duration of time – whether that be in a book, or a movie, or general TV browsing and other activities – is a great way of relaxing, passing time, and having fun. It is not escapism as a concept that we chastise here but rather when it grows into becoming a needless time waster. It was once said that 'The time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted at all". That is certainly the case, you can't always be running about busy and occupied – you have to have time for time wasting. But, that's just the thing. We are trying to conquer true time wastage. The time you don't enjoy wasting but end up wasting anyway. The time wasting that gets in the way of success, further wealth, and the pursuit of happiness.
One of the most famous ways that escapism becomes a time waster is when we opt to browse TV or the internet aimlessly for hours at a time. What is achieved at the end of it? Nothing, or very little. So, why do we do it? Because it gives our mind a sense of purpose and a feeling of being occupied even without actually serving us with something productive. Manage to limit your escapism to when you want to escape and not when you are running from your responsibilities and higher calling and you will have not only gained precious time with which you can grow and become more successful, but you will also slowly gear your mind toward
