    THE POWER OF THE BRAINPOWER

We are living in a different world today than we did yesterday. This modern world is moving so fast that the person who says something can’t be done is generally interrupted by someone who is actually doing it. It’s a world filled with so many symbols, dogmas, ideologies, many organizations, companies, and individuals fighting hard and long to win our attention. Meanwhile, we all seem busy chasing something, more money, more love, more to life.

This new global economy we’ve entered is increasingly becoming highly interconnected and interdependent, built upon a foundation of information, which is mined, shaped, and crafted into its higher forms of knowledge and wisdom and communicated globally to ever-increasing numbers of people at ever-increasing rates of speed.

All these crisscrossing forces are driven by the most powerful natural electronic switching system, the most powerful single agent, the Human Brain.

In other words, all that helps to define who we are as humans is bound up in the workings of the brain. All our hopes, dreams, thoughts, feelings, memories, plans, problems, our very personality and sense of identity are embedded in that single agent, the Brainpower. It’s the driving force behind all these concepts that interact to form and influence the state of mind that eventually shapes human environments, circumstances, and destiny.

Consequently, we must focus our attention and prioritize our efforts to strengthen our brainpower if we are ever going to overcome the challenges we face in our Afrikanity. We are living in the ‘Age of the Mind’, and we ought to know there is no power without brainpower.

In our Afrikanity, we’ve grown up with the weight of disturbing history on us. Believe it or not, our ancestors dwell in the top shelf of our brains as they do in the spiralling chains of our awareness hidden deep in every molecule of our cells. But if we are to reach the summit of our positive desires, without a single drop of doubt, building our Brainpower is the Master Key we’ve been waiting for. In the Service of Mama Afrika.

The human mind is the master power that moulds and makes, shaping all that it wills. Consider what it has achieved that even staggers the strangest imagination, from the most powerful bridges to the audacious ability of the internet that has finally sewn the world into a single entity. Here we are living in the Golden Era that mankind has long laboured to reach. Everything you see, feel, and touch is nothing but the origin of the mind. Indeed the empires of the future are the empires of the mind.

As far as our Afrikanity is concerned, we have to reset the clock and re-examine the approaches to our lives if we are to amend the tide to start flowing our way.

We have to identify the belief systems of the quiet past that are no longer adequate to the turbulent present. Modern life is piled with dynamic sets of challenges, yet we must rise up with all of them. It calls for us to think anew and act anew, and it’s only then we shall save our Afrikan ancestry from the turmoil that surrounds it.

From historical to present times, the brainpower is the only force that has launched all cherished great communities to positions of admiration. We will not get to our summit in any other way.

All democracies, from ancient Athens, to the Roman republic, to the city states of the renaissance, earned their accumulated power and extreme wealth through the veins of the brainpower.

Compared to what we ought to accomplish and eventually become, we are only half awake, partly because we have never taken this essentially important step. We have never prioritized our efforts to build and strengthen our collective brainpower. It means we are making use of only a small part of our possible physical and mental resource – and that should not continue.

A developed brain is the major tool for any community’s development and the true yardstick for actual development.

It’s this understanding that partly made President Mwalimu Julius Nyerere to point out that … development brings freedom; provided it is development by the people.

Our brain is the most powerful natural asset, whose top functionality should be heavily ensured. As we continue to use the words Mind and Brain to mean the same thing, remember the brain is the pillar upon which the rest of the world, as we know it, revolves. It’s the most valuable possession we can ever hope for, and it deserves all the attention we can muster.

The brain is a gift that should be constantly developed, healthily maintained, properly utilized, and jealously protected against any negative habits, influences, or determinants.

It is the largest room in the world with great ability to absorb, retain, judge, and imagine as it penetrates through all time and space.

You see, humankind lives simultaneously on three planes of understanding: the mind (conscious mind), the spirit (subconscious universal existence), and the body. So, the mind is not a single entity that is separate and independent from the other entities that help to define it.

We have known the mind is the actual activity, and the body is a mere physical manifestation of that activity. And so, if we are to overcome the pressing issues that have persisted in our existence, our top responsibility right now is to act swiftly and definitively.

We may appear to be simply trying to catch up to what other communities seem to have known for years, but that should speed up our efforts to build a positive image of our Afrikanity. Building our brainpower has to be a key priority.

As the world moves towards greater democracy, decentralization, and the market economy, conditions are becoming more favourable for us to start steering our own course of change. But it is vital to stimulate our awareness, participation, and capabilities.

Many of our respective economies are overwhelmed by the cost of servicing foreign debt, and for
