- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a great book for young readers who want to learn about Louisiana. It kicks of with the French saying popular to Louisianians, "Laissez lez bons temps rouler!" Let the good times roll. The book has beautiful and relevant photos. It has easy to read sentence structures, but it has one great flaw. This book is not broken into sections or topics. It tends to flow continuously with no sense of organization. This book does include a timeline of important dates, a glossary, a "Did You Know" section, a state fact section, a section filled with state symbols, and the state song. For those readers who may a taste of Louisiana, this book includes a recipe for making Jambalaya. After reading this book, I found that it is a great and quick refresher for my 8th grade social studies class. I plan to read it to my students soon.
