    I have been interested in the Holy Bible for some time now. I have written and published The Image of God, a Bible Study of Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage, and A Great Silence in the land, newly released defense of the Scriptures which answer many problems of this day. These are my only credentials except for a lifetime of experiences. I have three children who are successful thanks to God's mercy, and 11 Grandchildren. One grandson served three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is just home and out of the Army. Another grandson served in Afghanistan and is home and still in the Air Force. Believe me, I have found just how powerful prayer is. I now have 3 Great grandchildren (two more on the way). I enjoy visiting them all in Houston, Georgia, and Maryland. I lived in El Paso, Texas for a number of years after my husband passed away. I taught sixth grade science and worked for a short time at UTEP before I retired. Back home now in the place where I met and married my husband, a Korean veteran, had my children and watched them grow as they graduated from Tomball High School, and moved on in their various directions. Problems, perservance, and prayer were our lot, but my large family and I can say, "Thus far has the Lord brought us, and we are unhurt." Kelsay Swain

      Preface

      THIS BOOK BEGAN IN MY mind a few years back when I heard a radio talk show host agree with a caller that anyone who believed in a young Earth and in the Bible creation myth should not be allowed to vote as they were too ignorant! Young family members, Christians all, were also talking one day about the Bible being mostly myth. I was shocked. How could anyone reared up in the Christian church not believe the Bible is true?

      How can anyone believe, they answered, that the universe and its inhabitants could be created in six days? Impossible!

      A flood that covered the mountains of the globe? Nonsense! Where did He get all that water?

      A whale whose digestive enzymes refused to consume a man? Yeah, right!

      Oh. Science again. Many people question these things, but believers in Biblical truth find that literal events are woven into divine history to complete the whole picture of salvation. So that each event that seems so extraordinary and impossible to us brings honor and glory to God.

      For instance, the story of Noah and the ark is a literal event in time, but the spiritual meaning points to God’s mercy in sending us Jesus as the Ark to save God’s family of souls from the final punishment of the wicked.

      The same applies to Jonah and the whale. After three days inside a great fish’s belly, Jonah came forth the victor by God’s grace. It was a literal part of divine history, but again it points to Jesus Christ who came forth, after three days in the tomb, a victor that death and Hell should not hurt us.

      What is divine history? To me it is the genealogy of Jesus Christ. The Word of God is a record of literal events with spiritual applications that are both divine and human. The historical is confirmed by the archaeological and stands as a type and shadow of the spiritual, for all work together to help us understand the Will of God for mankind.

      But then, it came to me: there are just so many people who don’t believe it. Then, I began to think about how the Bible is being stripped of its Scriptures: the ones that are contrary to our lusts, that affirm that life begins at conception, and that warn of God’s wrath and judgment. These are the main issues that are under attack today.

      For a long time I didn’t notice the shredding; then, I guess I became inured to it. But when I finally understood from newscasts of human interest stories and court cases that Christians must be tolerant of all beliefs and lifestyles, I began to listen.

      I listened, and in the noise of all the communication flowing around the globe, opinions argued, innumerable words written, spoken, and recorded, errors put forth as fact, I heard a great silence in the land. The Bible, the Word of God, rejected, claimed to be irrelevant, an outcast to this brave new world, is no longer allowed to speak to us; thus, the Spirit that moves the Word upon the heart finds a lukewarm reception. Then I got angry!

      All this hoopla about global warming! When the answer is in the Word of God? Genesis 8:21, 22 would stop it in its tracks.

      I was asked when I mentioned the majority view in this country today, "How do you know what the majority view in this country is?" I can say what the growing majority view is with certainty because I have not heard that Scripture mentioned by anyone of my acquaintance, the news networks, random internet sites; televangelists, no one—but me— to counter the insupportable rumor. The Word of God is silenced.

      Do you believe the innate goodness of man will come to the surface and find the answers to turn us back to the prosperous, ‘take no prisoners’ country we once were? Or will the next generation have the answers? We leave them no basis for it; the answers to the prosperity of a nation and the overcoming of its enemies were always to be found in God’s Rule for our lives.

      We have only Henley’s false and empty boast to leave them: Fear not death and punishments, he says. But the Bible says …the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). Henley says, I am the master of my fate, the captain of my soul!¹ Such a statement should have made him fear: For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire….

      Timothy McVeigh had no last words to speak, but he wrote Henley’s boast on paper just before he was executed for the Oklahoma City bombing. It is also the essence of Sinatra’s, I did it My Way, but to meet your maker with that boast on your lips will only teach you that God is …even a jealous God (Deuteronomy 4:24).

      Oprah says it was that statement by a minister that caused her to reject traditional Christian thinking, believing he meant God was jealous of her.² It only shows that what she heard was not mixed with faith. She simply received her pastor’s word without understanding that God is jealous of no one. He is jealous for His Word, for His own glory, and for the honor of His Son.

      We Laodiceans³ have lost the knowledge of God as God and have yielded to vain imaginations that silence His Word, ignore the prophecies of the Book of the Revelation, and prevent us from hearing the rumble of God’s anger even today that will be poured out in complete and perfect wrath against the nations that forget God (Psalms. 9:17).

      Oh, right. That same old warning. Repent! The end is near! Every generation has said the same thing!

      It was the message of the old prophets, Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations (Ezekiel 14:6). And it was the first sermon Jesus preached: From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand (Matthew 4:17). And it was the same message He sent His disciples to preach: And they went out, and preached that men should repent (Mark 6:12). Will you mock these venerable words?

      Every generation since the Creation has indeed seen and endured the signs of the end of the world, and world wide, well over a hundred thousand people meet the end of their world every day.

      And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints (Jude 1:14).

      The people of Noah’s time faced the end of their world when they saw the water rising; and Job faced his in the loss of all that he had. The Church of Jesus Christ at Smyrna faced ten Roman persecutions over three hundred years. Think of all races of people snatched away from their homes, tied like beasts in the rotten holds of ships for months to be sold as slaves facing they knew not what.

      Jesus assured the generation of His day that they would not pass away without seeing the great tribulation He described:

      Woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day; For there shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be (Matthew 24:34).

      Read of God’s vengeance against the Jews for the persecution of His people and the killing of His Son.⁴ It was indeed the worst tribulation that ever was or ever would be. It was of those days that Jesus said were they not shortened, there would be no flesh saved. Some did escape, but for them it was the end of everything they had known. Then, think of the Holocaust.

      My own family and I witnessed the signs of the end for about three years of severe misfortune. Our desolation happened in a time of general prosperity. The children were so vulnerable, but stalwart, and helped as they could to cheer and keep up with their job, which was studying.

      Prayer was my job, and the Lord was faithful to His promise (Matthew 6:31-34). But I, having read many times the prophecies in the Book of The Revelation, knew that this trial was for my children more than their parents. They learned along with us of God’s answers to prayer and eventual deliverance. Feeling that the end times would come in their
