    Dedication

I dedicate this book to God our Father, Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit, who made all of this possible. In Christ, I am anointed and a powerful person of God. I am a joint heir with Jesus and more than a conqueror. I am a doer of the word of God and a channel for His blessings. I am blessed coming in and blessed going out. No weapon formed against me will prosper, and every tongue which may rise against me in judgment shall be condemned. Righteousness is from me, saith the Lord. I am saved from wrath by Him and justified by the Blood of the Lamb. Father, I thank you for using me to help spread the good news about your son, Jesus Christ, for your Glory! Amen.

To Bishop David C. Cooper, Sr. Pastor and Elder Nina M. Cooper, Co-Pastor, thank you for encouraging me to write this book for teens. It took almost three years, I’m thankful that they never gave up but continued to encourage me to do this for the Kingdom, so that God’s Kingdom can truly be on earth as it is in Heaven. I pray that this manual will be a blessing to everyone that will study and obey it.

To my wonderful family who believes that Mom can do anything, you have blessed my life tremendously, may God continue to smile on you, bless and give you His abundant peace and love. I love you!

Love the Lord with all thy heart, and with all of thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy self. Matthew 22:37-39

    In His Love,

    Warner Marshall

    EMPOWERING TEENS THROUGH GOD’S WORD

    INTRODUCTION

    Greetings, Child of God!

    WELCOME !

I’m so happy you have decided to study this book! And thank God for you! He has so much planned for you to learn and do, and we know you are eager to get started!

EMPOWERING TEENS IN GOD’S WORD, is a good place to begin! So, we’d like to tell you all about it right now.

PURPOSE OF TRAINING TEENS THROUGH GOD’S WORD

The primary purpose of this training is to make sure that all of you have a sound introduction to (or for some of you it may be a refresher in) the basics of our faith—salvation, baptism, prayer, witnessing, and the like. I want you to have a good foundation of Christian doctrine, which you will be building upon in years to come.

Second, I’d like for you to understand the meaning of church membership, and how you can help the church become all that God wants it to be.

And then, this training gives you a chance to meet and get to know the Lord better.

    CLASS MEETINGS

Class usually runs from 6 to 8 weeks if you study in one hour sessions once a week.

    EMPOWERING TEENS THROUGH GOD’S WORD

UNIT PLAN Each Unit consists of the following:

Objectives: These are like outcomes, or destinations. They tell you what you can expect to have learned after having completed the Unit. Objectives are your clues to the key points in each Unit. Make sure you have learned how to do what the objectives indicate. These are key learnings in this program.

Scripture Readings: We’d like to encourage you to read Scripture DAILY as part of your Quiet Time with the Lord. Throughout this DISCIPLESHIP Class, you will have an opportunity to read through the entire Gospel of John. We’ve divided it up so that you could plan on reading about a chapter a day. At the end of the Unit, there are a few questions to help you in your understanding of this book. You may want to answer the questions as you go rather than wait until after you have read the entire book.

Memory Verses: One of your memory verses is, Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11) The idea here is to get you started in committing Scripture to memory so that you’ll always have the Word of God there with you…just at the moment you most need it!

Memory Verses are another source of key learnings. Spend time memorizing and reviewing your memory verses. You’ll need to do this daily to keep up.

Lesson Review Questions: At the end of each lesson is a set of questions that you need to answer using your Bible as a reference. These questions will be discussed in class. In order to participate in class discussions, you’ll need to have your answers written down. You won’t have time to look them up during class time.

NOTE: Objectives, Memory Verses, and Lesson Review Questions will be included on your Final Exam.

Homework: I’d like you to complete the homework assignments prior to classtime. The homework consists of:

    1. Reading the Lesson Notes in each Unit.

    2. Answering the Review Questions at the end of each Lesson. Please, write the answers down on
