About this ebook

Stride like a Cheetah and Pursue!

This book is about a woman who has overcome the trials and tribulations of life. She has exemplified the character as a survivor and an overcomer. She started out as an ordinary woman who enrolled in an institution of higher learning majoring in politics and criminal justice, assisting elected officials in various campaigns, pursuing a government career, government internships and raising two children. Somehow, an interruption of life had occurred and this was the beginning of a change of life.

During her homeless journey, she was involved in a bitter custody battle of her two children, the loss of her mother and her government job- simultaneously. Yet she dreamed about her ambitions and goals to bring it into fruition. It was relative to a woman in travail giving birth to an impossible dream.

In this book, failing forward is very successful. It may not be evident at the time, however, she offers the remedy to accomplish and achieve whatever you have set your mind to do.

Trials + Pursuing = Success

Take your trials and use them to your advantage to help someone else.

Marilyn Hinton-Brown

Marilyn Hinton-Brown is a very dedicated and committed woman to God and loves church. With all the goals and tasks that are set before her, she perseveres and accomplishes to pursue to the end. Although adversities may interrupt her path, she goes through with grace and comes out on the other end with even more grace and strength and still stretches out her arm and hand to help those in need – the virtuous woman (Psalms 31). She is a very loving and extraordinarily passionate and compassionate woman for causes. She also loves children and senior citizens who are very dear to her heart. When asked, she supports friends and family. She works untiringly to bring the gifts and the talents to fruition. She does not take NO for an answer and will find a way to create a Yes. She is a fighter and will contend all the way to the end and will always find a solution to implement plan a, b and c. She is the type of woman that always occupies her intellect and never an idol moment occurs. She grew up in the central part of Maryland with five siblings in a strict Christian home. Her father was a fire and brimstone Church Of God In Christ pastor and her mother was an evangelist and home-maker. She is a very dedicated and loving mother to both of her children, Jasmine and Jarrell. Jarrell has been diagnosed with autism and she has ensured that both children were educated in the Christian private educational system. It has been a difficult journey dealing with his Autism, however, she ensured that he is always in a nurturing, educational and social environment supporting him in every area. She attended the Prince George’s Community College majoring in Criminal Justice and minored in Political Science and went on to matriculate to the University of Maryland pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Political Science. Her plan is to operate a 501©3 non-profit organization to serve homeless individuals to offer home-cooked meals and a clothing boutique. In addition, she serves as a coordinator for an underserved high school in the District of Columbia where she initiated the Adopt-A-School program that sponsors school uniforms to homeless and low-income students along with an educational SAT component to assist with college preparation and employment opportunities. She enjoys the holidays – of which she takes to heart and looks forward to home-cooking and decorating. She enjoys laughing and spending time with those whom she loves and treasures, and promotes education and giving back to those in need. What makes her smile? The scenes of waterfall and the falling of leaves.

    Introduction

This book is designed to encourage, motivate, and inspire anyone who has a gift or talent and must pursue their dreams even amid tragedy and unfavorable circumstances.

On our way to our dreams, there’s a possibility of roadblocks and hindrances, however, one must pursue. Into each life some rain must fall. In life there will be obstacles and inconsistencies but we must overcome to pursue the God given talents within every one of us. If you’re on your way, don’t quit – pursue!

I’ve had a major obstacle with homelessness while simultaneously dealing with the loss of my mother, the loss of employment and fighting for the rights of my two children through the court system. The definition of homeless is when you do not have a permanent address, living from one place to the next, not stable and wondering where you will lay your head from night to night. What a faith walk!

One of the most difficult aspects of my situation is I am a single mother of two children, one of which is autistic.

If you are experiencing a plight in your life, please read and allow this book to galvanize your path. Always remember, there is a light at the end of the journey.

The question is: Determined to do what? Pursue and achieve every goal regardless of the trial.

    Pursue!

    Marilyn
