About this ebook

A charismatic new governor. A radical political movement. An overzealous central government.

When libertarian Republican candidate Paul Spooner is elected Governor of New Hampshire, his policies set the tiny, independent-minded state on an inevitable collision course with the Federal Government. President Bennet Oliver can't let his signature new healthcare law fall prey to the failings of similar, previous Democratic legislation, so he decides the defiant Granite State must be made an example of.

A story told through news clippings, video transcripts, leaked documents, and gripping first hand accounts, Granite Republic details the explosive stand of one small state against a tyrannical national government.

Granite Republic is a 12,500 word (50 pages) epistolary novella.

Libertarian Free State Project reaches goal of 20,000th member

    By STACY TRESSAL

    Monitor Staff

    Saturday, September 9, 2017

Regular readers of WNC will surely be familiar with the Free State Project (FSP), whose members have graced these pages before for everything from trying to arrest cops to running for office as open anarchists (yes, applying for a government job when they don't believe in government).

You will, perhaps, be less than pleased to note that they announced last week they have reached their goal of 20,000 signers of their 'pledge' to all move to New Hampshire and vote for smaller government (and, presumably, to defund schools and cease pothole repair).

Luckily, the FSP doesn't have a great track record: after being in existence for almost fifteen years, it's only managed to get 2,000 people to actually move here.

Firefighters and other government employees can breathe a sigh of relief; it's a safe bet the granite state won't be overrun with these crazies anytime soon.

BOB ROSE, HOST: Thanks again for coming on The Bob Rose Show, Rich.

RICH GOLDFARB: Thanks for having me Bob.

ROSE: Now, you're with the Free State Project, is that right?

GOLDFARB: That's right, I'm the Communications Director for the Project.

ROSE: I was wondering if you could tell our listeners a little about what the Free State Project is and your goal here in New Hampshire.

GOLDFARB: Sure, Bob. Well, the Free State Project is an effort to get 20,000 people who believe in the ideals of social and economic liberty to move to New Hampshire. That's it. We don't advocate specific policy proposals, or take specific positions as an organization, we don't organize people once they get here or anything like that. We will direct them towards resources for newcomers, such as help finding housing, and the various community centers and groups that other movers have started on their own.

ROSE: Now, you recently, last year, reached your goal of having 20,000 people sign your pledge to move to New Hampshire

    GOLDFARB: Last September, actually.

ROSE: Right, tell me a little bit more about that.

GOLDFARB: The pledge is very simple. It basically states that, by signing it, you agree to move to New Hampshire within five years of the pledge reaching 20,000 signatures. The 20,000 number is a trigger point, telling people they now have five years to get out here.

ROSE: And how many of those people have actually followed through on the promise to move?

GOLDFARB: We've had about 7,000 since we hit our goal.

ROSE: (COUGHING) 7,000? You've had 7,000 people already move here in ten months? And these are confirmed movers, boots on the ground, so to speak?

GOLDFARB: Yep, I've met almost all of them myself.

ROSE: Wow, that's just...wow. Where do you fit them all?
