About this ebook

Jesus Christ’s purpose on earth was not a mere secular purpose comprising the execution of physical and social tasks. He was deliberately and assertively spiritual. Many of the teachings in the Body of Christ on purpose focus on social and secular issues but this book majors on the spiritual ministry of Jesus Christ – PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19

God created you for a purpose. He anoints you for a purpose. He blesses you for a purpose. The purpose of being created, anointed and blessed is to fulfil the purpose of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You must have your feet sandalled with readiness to preach the Gospel of peace.

    Introduction

The Oxford dictionary defines purpose as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Without purpose, life is meaningless and unfulfilling. It is important for you to discover the purpose for which you were created, blessed and anointed. Purpose is not the prerogative of a privileged few in the world – everybody should know his or her purpose in life. You will discover your purpose in this book and fulfil it to God’s glory and the blessing of humankind.

God created you for a purpose. He created Adam and Eve and gave them the divine mandate to rule the universe and make the earth productive. The earth has great potential but it takes human beings to release its wealth and blessings. Many parts of the world look useless until the right people show up. What we see in a place in terms of civilisation and development is always the result of the people who occupy the land and influence it. You are not created to give excuses for the way things are. You are not created to continue the culture of failure. The land should not mould you into the shape of those who were anonymous on it before you were born.

²⁶  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

²⁷  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

²⁸  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

    Genesis 1:26-28

I often hear people say that a person is the product of his or her environment. On the contrary, I think in some cases the environment is the product of a person. Sometimes people can make or shape their environment, not the other way round.

God anoints you for a purpose. Purpose is the reason for the anointing. Without purpose the anointing is either wasted or abused. God anoints people for a purpose. You are anointed to serve God and touch people’s lives. A powerful anointing produces supernatural results in others. God anointed King David, a man after His heart, to fulfil His will. He anointed him to enforce His rule of righteousness and bring His blessings upon Israel.

²²  And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

    Acts 13:22

The anointing consecrates and empowers you for definite assignments, which you execute well. It eliminates struggling from your efforts and fills you with joy and peace as you serve God and humankind.

God blesses you for a purpose. You are blessed to be a blessing to others. God touches your life to touch other lives. Others must benefit from the grace of God on your life. God blessed Abraham to be a blessing to all the families of the earth. God’s blessings on him transcended many generations.

¹  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

²  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

³  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

    Genesis 12:1-3

One is not truly blessed until one’s blessings impact other people’s lives. Blessings that last are those that make positive impact on others. Blessings which feed the selfishness of those who have them leave the rest of the world to suffer.

A biblical word that adequately sums up being created, anointed and blessed is manifestation. The world awaits the manifestation of the children of God to save it from destruction and to release its potential. Defeat, death and destruction will plague the earth until the sons and daughters of God take their rightful positions in strategic places and undertake constructive actions to preserve it and make it productive. Various translations of Romans 8:19 point to the impact the manifestation of the sons of God make on creation.

¹⁹  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

    Romans 8:19 (KJV)

¹⁹  The created world itself can hardly wait for what’s coming next.

    Romans 8:19 (MSG)

¹⁹  All creation is eagerly waiting for God to reveal who his children are.

    Romans 8:19 (GW)

¹⁹  For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].

    Romans 8:19 (AMP)

The devil, operating directly or through demons, human beings and other agencies of nature plagues the earth with defeat, death and destruction. On the other hand, Jesus Christ the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.

⁸  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

    1 John 3:8

The Greek word for purpose is touto meaning cause or intent. The word for manifested is phaneroō which means make to manifest, appear, manifest, render apparent and declare. The Son of God appeared or was rendered apparent for the cause or intent of destroying the works of the devil.

Jesus Christ was begotten by the Father or manifested to break the power of sin, sickness and death and to do the will of God. He was begotten by the Father for a purpose. Although Jesus Christ was not a created being, He is the only begotten Son of God – He was God manifested in the flesh. You are created to destroy the works of the devil and fulfil God’s purposes.

⁴  Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

⁵  For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

    Hebrews 1:4-5

¹⁶  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

    1 Timothy 3:16

Jesus Christ the Anointed One, was anointed with the oil of gladness above His fellows. He was anointed as a king, priest and prophet to fulfil God’s will on earth and in Heaven. He operated in the anointing to set the example for us that without the anointing, we cannot minister in spiritual offices.

⁸  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

⁹  Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

    Hebrews 1:8-9

Jesus Christ is blessed by the Father to execute His purpose of blessing those who believe in Him. He is the only Potentate, King of kings and Lord of lords. Only He has immortality. He dwells in the light, which no man can approach. No man hath seen or can see Him. To Him be honour and power everlasting. The extent to which the Father has blessed Jesus Christ makes Him more than enough to meet the needs of the whole world.

    ¹³  I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

¹⁴  That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    ¹⁵  Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

¹⁶  Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

    1 Timothy 6:13-16

From His fullness, anointing and blessings, all human beings who are in Him receive grace for grace (favour upon favour, gift heaped upon gift or gift after gift after gift.)

¹⁶  And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

¹⁷  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

¹⁸  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

    John 1:16-18

Jesus Christ crystallised His purpose on earth in John 10:10. In this scripture reference, He contrasted His mission on earth with that of satan. The only Potentate, King of kings, Lord of lords, who only has immortality and who dwells in the light which no man can approach, did not dismiss satan’s existence but emphasised the superiority of His mission over satan’s mission. It is naïve to pretend that satan has no destructive intentions on earth.

¹⁰  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

    John 10:10

The writer of the book of Acts describes the two-fold mission of Jesus Christ by saying that He went about doing good and healing those who were oppressed by the devil. The presumption of ignoring or underestimating satan’s existence is one of the reasons for the lack of impact of the Church on earth.
