      CHAPTER ONE

      Learning New Tricks

      Things had been going particularly well for Ryan and Ava. They were both finally dealing better with the stresses of their careers, thanks in part to their new home life ‘experiment’.

      The tensions between them had dissolved as they fell into their chosen roles. She was enjoying the submissive side of her at home after being in charge all day at work. She loved being able to come home and just be there for him, to please him, to make him happy. Not having to be in control of everything, just being able to focus on her husband.

      He had been getting more and more frustrated at work as things kept piling up and no one listened to his ideas and seemed to just walk all over him, but ever since the changes at home... Well, things had started changing at work, too.

      It was as if the confidence of his Dominant side was coming out at work and it was effective. People who used to talk right over him when he voiced his ideas were suddenly quiet. Listening and actually hearing him. His boss was starting to hint at promotion and he was getting excellent reviews from the higher-ups.

      He was thrilled to come home to his wife each day, knowing that she had been thinking of him and would be ready to make him even happier when he got home. He loved doing things for her, loved how relaxed and satisfied with life she was lately.

      It was as if these changes that they had made to their relationship were just coloring everything with the same brush of fulfillment all around them.

      Their anniversary was coming up in just a few days and he had been making plans for a very special weekend for them. She was going to be so very surprised, but oh so pleased.

      He had been digging around for the perfect getaway for them when he had discovered a big gathering going on in the city just a couple of hours away.

      Ava had been hinting for the past couple of weeks that she would really like to experience the excitement of a party for the BDSM crowd. He had been very non-committal, thinking that maybe it could be a surprise for her... if he could find one.

      When he went looking, he was really surprised to find that there was a local group for that type of thing... but then realized that no parties were scheduled the weekend of their anniversary.

      His disappointment soon turned to excitement when he realized that nothing was showing on the calendar because of the big invitation-only party/weekend even happening for those who were especially involved in the group.

      He thought it might be a little better to start out in a larger crowd so they could hold back and not stick out if they weren’t ready to jump in and participate. Now the only problem was procuring an invitation. They were apparently hard to come by and he only really knew one person in the group well enough to ask.

      Crossing his fingers, Ryan finally found a quiet moment that he could ask his new friend for an invite or at least a referral so he could plead his case with the higher-ups in charge of those decisions.

      He stopped by Adam’s office between appointments. Ryan and Adam had been friends since college, but it wasn’t until they’d both been at the same BDSM gathering that their friendship had reignited.

      It was something entirely new to Ryan, but apparently, Adam and Mark had been deeply involved in the lifestyle since college. He’d had no idea.

      When he’d seen his old friends at the casual gathering, it was like they’d never drifted apart at all. He’d learned so much just from talking to them again, learning the ins and outs of this Domination thing, it was like having a crash course in BDSM. That conversation had really ramped up his own experimenting with Ava.

      It helped that Ava made friends with Adam’s wife, Natalie, as well. They all found that it was an immediate close-knit group. Not in a sexual
