My 2-year-old nephew randomly selected some of the books in this series off the shelves at the local library. Seeing that they were labeled easy readers for kindergarteners through third graders, I thought they would be too long to hold his attention and too difficult for him to understand. I was pleasantly surprised to find that each spread contained only one short sentence of a text and a full-page photograph perfectly illustrating the text. With only 16 pages of “story,” these were the perfect sized books for him, and we went through quite a few in one sitting. For older readers, the book’s supplementary materials – a glossary, a “learn more” section, and an index – may also come in handy.
