    Jarasandha grew up to be a mighty and powerful King. He extended his empire far and wide and gathered the support of the several kings. And as prophesied, he turned out to be a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Jarasandha used to perform a number of sacrifices so as to please the Lord and used to meditate and pray regularly to him.

    Once it so happened, that Jarasandha decided to perform a ceremony in Shiva’s honour. In order to please Shiva, he decided to complete the ceremony with a ritual wherein human beings would be sacrificed to Lord Shiva.
