There is so much that happens to us in life and we often miss the lessons that we can learn, even from the difficult seasons of life. This is a book that looks at the lives of two characters in the Bible and shows how the different situations they encountered prepared them for the roles of leadership that they ended up having. Even experiencing situations like slavery or imprisonment were teaching valuable lessons that enabled them to be more effective as leaders.

When the Lessons of Life are a Preparation
Preface
We are all headed to fulfil a purpose in this life and from the time we are born to the time we begin to walk in its fulfilment we are constantly learning and are in preparation for that time.
The problem is that not many of us realise that the situations that we experience as we grow are a preparation for the time when we are living out our purpose. If anything, many of us would rather forget our experiences rather than draw from them to help us further our success.
This little book is written to help us realise that what we experience in life can be used to strengthen our performance as we encounter the other stages of our lives as we both continue growing and meeting the demands of the stage that we are at.
In the initial stages of our growth there will be more learning than there will be drawing from what has been learnt. This is obvious because when we are young we will not have much to draw from. As we mature we will still be learning but with the experience we have gained along the way we will also have much to draw from.
Note, I have used the term as we mature
rather than as we grow older
and this is because not everyone is mature just because they are older. There are many cases where a person of 45 for example still behaves like a 20-year-old and a 20-year-old has been known to behave better and respond to situations better than even a 60-year-old. I believe that
