About this ebook

Welcome to the world of my fantasy Earth!

Science and Divinity is a classic tale about the struggle between faith in spirituality and faith in technology, told primarily through the lenses of the two, female main characters- Geophia and Sapphire.

Geophia is the head of the Migus- the combined organization of every branch of science in the world. The Migus work hand in hand with the Sentry- they are the combined police and military force employed by the reformed American government known as the Edict. Geophia is very smart. Very powerful. Exceedingly ruthless. She believes spirituality to be a cancer and her technology the cure.

Sapphire is a Kai to her Guru Grandfather. The Guru are a mystical race of people who worship God and are empowered by His energy- Jhyra. The Guru are the masters. The Kai are the learners.

Now the Guru are being targeted and the faith she was raised in will be put to the test like never before- and she will have to determine for herself if she truly believes.

    The Beginning

    GEOPHIA

I don’t like when people lie to me.

    Please… Please… I swear…

Most citizens of the Edict don’t expect there to be a costly penalty for deception. But, then again, most cities aren’t like the Edict. We’re special. The cutting edge of a new world society. Our law enforcement system is composed of two halves, which work flawlessly with one another to keep crime and other social disturbances at a record low. The Sentry are the foot patrol, the armed response, the first and last resort. The physical side. The Migus are the unified branch of scientists from all fields responsible for torture, interrogation, equipment maintenance, and anticipatory stratagem.

It was an unpleasant experience to come under the disciplining hand of the Sentry.

It was downright misery to come under the instruments of the Migus.

The light from the onboard display before me flashed hauntingly on my wide rimmed glasses, creating a menacing silhouette of my thick, unbound afro. The client, as we called our charges, had an unusual resistance to our truth extractor. Not indomitable… But enough to prove what the machine had already been able to detect.

    He was lying.

The moans coming from his mouth clashed starkly with the finely designed clothes he wore. A golden red jacket with wide lapels down the front, over a prismatic black, form fitting shirt that clung to his muscular body. It glittered like the scattered shards of a million night diamonds bobbing peacefully on a lake. His pants were made of some sturdy, but flexible – and admittedly beautiful – cloth that automatically adjusted to its wearer, requiring no cinch across the waist. And his boots were military grade, but altered to augment running and jumping ability.

Truly a complex work of art.

Was there any wonder technology could not accomplish?

His moans of pain stirred me like a rising concerto score, and moved me to intimacy. I shut off the device and the onboard display, and picked up a Codex Pen, twirling it betwixt my thumb and forefinger. Standing abruptly, I strode into the room.

I don’t like when people lie to me.

The temporary relief from pain kept him
