    INTRODUCTION

    I had been married to my first husband for 20 years when I filed for divorce.  I had wanted to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compestella pilgrimage in Spain for over five years at this point, something he never allowed me to do.  Walking this ancient pilgrimage was one of the first things I allowed myself to do in what I thought was my new found freedom.  As I backpacked this 500 mile trek across northern Spain by myself, I realized I wasn’t free yet. 

    I thought my husband was my captor.  I finally realized my own mind and it’s identification to my past and a false sense of identity were my true captors.  I didn’t know who I was in Truth and didn’t believe I had the power to do what was important, to do what I was being guided to do.  Something was waking up in me, and very little in my life made sense, which was ironic because I had worked so hard to make that life happen.

    The third day of walking on the Camino de Santiago was an especially challenging day for me.  I was amazed at how emotionally challenging the journey was.  I knew it was going to be very challenging physically, but I was totally blindsided with just how emotionally difficult it was to face myself as I
