    The Beautiful - Shanna McIntyre

    Preface

I FELT LEAD TO WRITE this book for years. I actually started writing it and then stopped for three years. I was scared. Vulnerability has never really been my friend and writing my life story, well, that’s kind of crazy and scary!

I sat down to write this when I was going through a really tough time in my life. Writing my story brought such healing to myself. It was a source of inner healing, type it out and let it go!

My hope is that this book stirs the part of your heart that hurts, that’s been abused, neglected, and torn apart. As you read my book, I hope that you let my story bring healing to those parts, the parts that you’ve hidden and won’t let anyone see, and those parts that are so painful you can’t go there because you’re afraid that if you do, you won’t make it out alive!

I’m proof that you’ll make it out alive, I’m proof that everything will be okay, even better than you imagined!

I hope that you read my book and find Love.

    Chapter 1

    Your Father Never Wanted Kids

MY PARENTS WERE DIVORCED WHEN I was four, I can remember my sister and myself standing in a room, my parents picking a girl and saying, You’re living with me. My mom picked me, and that’s where the stronghold was formed. Throughout my life, that moment in time would manifest into God doesn’t love me, no man will ever love me, and I’m not important or worthy enough to be loved!

I want to start off telling you about my father because as you read this book, you will see the absolute importance of having healthy, loving fathers in our lives. You will see how the early imprinting of having an absentee father shaped my entire life and how I ran from man to man and void to void to try to get what I needed the most…love.

Your father never wanted kids, I had to force him to have sex with me so I could get pregnant. I heard these words from my mother so many times growing up.

The father wounds in my life ran very deep. I actually only have a few childhood memories of my dad. My dad was a marine, a race car driver, and a drunk. He never sent any child support to my mother, and I only visited him one time when I was six. I traveled on a plane by myself to visit him and my sister in Florida. That one visit reaffirmed to me that my dad doesn’t care, and he’s fine without me being in his life. My dad had a girlfriend named Amy, and she basically watched my sister and myself while my dad was at work (which seemed to be the entire week that I was there).

One day, I was chewing a piece of gum, and Amy asked me for some gum. I let her know that I didn’t have any gum except for what was in my mouth. She began to yell at me and demand that I give her the gum in my mouth! As I kept refusing to give her the ABC (already been chewed) gum, she yelled even more! She eventually locked me in the bedroom for the rest of the day, and as I sat there, as a six-year-old, I couldn’t understand why I was in trouble and where was my dad when I
