The School Bully - Gabrielle Oliver

    Chapter1

On January 10th, 2017 I walked into William Height High School ready to start my first day in the tenth grade. All the children in the class had spent the last few years together. I was the new kid on the block, having transferred from another school. The academic standard at my old school had fallen and the schoolwork no longer presented a challenge.

My new teacher, Mrs. Riley, introduced me to the class and the kids were warm and welcoming — well, all except for one! A boy sitting at the back of the room looked at me and scowled. I didn’t let that affect me however, I was happy to be in my new school.

The next morning, I was awake ahead of everyone else in the family. When my mother woke, she prepared breakfast as well as lunch for school. We left home at 7 a.m. and I arrived at school at 7:35 a.m.

At 8 o’clock the gate opened and all the children who were present went to their classrooms.

My teacher was already at her desk writing in a big blue and white polka-dot hardcover book.

Good morning Mrs. Riley, I greeted my teacher.

Good morning Alexandria, replied Mrs. Riley.

I went to my seat and began to read my favorite book, She Wasn’t Creepy at First, by Gabrielle Oliver. As I sat there reading, the same mean-looking boy who was sitting at the back of the class yesterday walked in the classroom. He told the teacher ‘Good morning’ and sat in a seat several rows behind me. I turned to say good morning, but he just looked at me angrily, so I quickly turned around and continued to read. By 8:28 a.m. the class was full.

At 8:30, Mrs. Riley conducted devotion that was very inspiring. She then handed out our timetables and left.

Our first subject was English. Our English teacher, Mrs. Barcole, told us to write the classic ‘Tell me about yourself’ letter. I wrote:

    Lot 551, Boston DC

    Midnight P.O

    Kingston

    January 11, 2017

    Dear Mrs. Barcole,

My name is Alexandria Victoria Junior. I am fifteen years of age. My favourite subjects are Mathematics, English, Physics, Biology and Design Arts. My hobbies are reading, writing, watching the television, playing video games, surfing the net, doing art and craft, cooking appetizing meals, singing and listening to music. In the future I would like to become a doctor and an author.

My father is an author and my mother is an artist.

My expectation at William Height High School is to do my best at all times and be awarded for my performance.

    Your student,

    Alexandria Junior

Shortly after giving us the instructions to write the letter, Mrs. Barcole left the room. As soon as she stepped out, the boy started some weird antics like shooting paper planes and glue pops. I finished writing my letter quickly then took out my book and continued reading as I had marked the page before devotion.

While reading, I could feel the negative energy coming from the boy. I ignored him and enjoyed the story I was reading until the teacher returned to the class. We had a lot of fun reading our letters aloud.

It was during that session that I learned that the mean boy was named Clarence.

    Chapter2

As time went by, William Height High School turned out to be everything I wanted high school to be.
