About this ebook

Disclaimer: The book is a work of fiction that is not intended to praise or condemn any individual or particular group of people mentioned. It is nothing but my own imagination. Similarities or characters mimicking any individual or group of people are purely coincidental. Brian is a regular FBI supervisor, until someone takes a premeditated hit out on his job, wife, and as much of his life as they could. His very world is being turned constantly and it's hard to stay blind like justice should. Good and Evil are two faces of one coin. When that coin is flipping mid-air, its impossible to tell which is which. Most of life is waiting for the landing. Did Brian land on the Good face? Or did he fall on the Evil? Read more to find out.

    About the Author

    Acknowledgements

I would like to thank those who have always asked and anticipated my next novel. You are my strength! I would like to specifically mention some names, as these people really encouraged and helped me move forward even when I didn’t know which direction I was going.

Thank you Mr. Zuckerman and Mrs. James. You always had open ears at any time of the day to listen to my insensible rants, or my budding ideas. Thanks for the everlasting support.

I would also like to thank each and every member of the Fantastic Five. You all let me know when things were getting too crazy and needed an extra spark.

Thank you to all my fans, who have had some level of heightened resilience and perseverance to wait for my next novel.

Thank you to all the Xlibris employees who helped out with the publishing process.

The smooth creaking of the old wooden swings in the park eases my mood. I take a sip of tea, craving my usual extra caffeinated coffee, while looking through the stained glass of an FBI issued Durango. Marge insisted, so here I am drinking some tea, pretending not to crave coffee. I look over this guy’s case file. Murder, Forgery, Assault, you name it. I’m here in a Durango, waiting. Waiting for anything really, maybe someone will show up at his house, maybe he’ll leave. For now, I am looking at his case file, drinking tea and pretending not to crave coffee. Five minutes later, the screen finally flickers with movement. Five people are walking inside. Time to move.

I decide to wait just another second before moving out with my team. They all look at me and wait for my go ahead. I nod. We all move out of the unmarked van, and spread out in a diamond formation. As we approach the house from 5 different sides, I notice extremely loud music starts playing. I manage to get in through a window, and approach the source of the music.

Once I get into what seems like a living room, there is an expensive looking flat screen mounted, with a small bomb box on the floor. Looking to my right, I see 5 bodies, all of them the ones that came in the house. Dead. Once my team gets here, Ashley notices something, a note. She reads aloud Nice try FBI, you were this close. I tell her and Rory to take it over to forensics, to try and cross reference the handwriting. The music suddenly stops, and everyone freezes. Soon after, a faint ticking starts to get faster. Mark runs first, screaming, BOMB!

I have no problem whatsoever with dead bodies, guns, and estranged violence in its many forms. The only thing I find unbearable are screams. Why do people choose to scream? It doesn’t change anything really. If you are in a situation where death is imminent I could understand you are hoping someone will hear you. But those chances are low, and if someone does hear you, the chances that the random pedestrian can actually help are even lower. Stop screaming.

We all run out the way we came, Standard protocol. When we reach the van, Ashley takes the wheel. Although, Zach is the designated driver. I allow it. We barely make it half a mile before the bomb detonates. It shakes everyone, knocking over the few things in the van.

Once we reach the Bureau, the small black cloud is still visible 20 minutes later. All the major news channels are cutting off the president to speak about what happened there. Of course, the FBI already flooded them with false information, things like kitchen fires, or washers and dryers malfunctioning. I chuckle to myself. When in Rome almost always turns into When in Washington D.C. Then I remember that the director is here today and all humor seems to fade away.

GET CADWELL UP HERE NOW! Director Blake yells. I walk up the smooth white linoleum stairway, imagining his toupee flying off of his head, due to the erratic movement of his head while he sits in my chair. I like that chair. The director goes on about his reputation and what we did out there
