Shield Talk Real Talk is a compilation of weekly devotional messages to offer Kappa Men hope and encouragement throughout the year in light of life's real ups and downs, its real joys and pain, and the real maneuvering we all have to do through life's manure. Unlike many devotionals that begin with a scriptural text followed by some explanatory commentary——Shield Talk Real Talk begins each devotional message with the realness of emotions, situations and/or circumstances men find themselves confronted with followed by supporting scripture, exhibiting that notwithstanding the disparate aspects of life we will experience, there is a living word that can speak to and uplift us.
Author
Joseph J. Briggs
Joseph J. Briggs is a minister, chaplain, author, singer/composer, and conference speaker. His ministry is a ministry of encouragement, offering words of hope and empowerment that stem from the hope and empowerment that can be found in scripture—God loves and believes in you. Joseph has authored the book ‘Emerge and See the State of Emergency’ which offers a creative philosophy on achieving one’s goals. He currently holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State University and Masters’ degrees in Divinity and Business Administration from Campbell University. Joseph is currently a doctoral student at Duke University, exploring affirmation ethics and its persuasive influences within the Black Church context. He is a life-member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Joseph and his wife live in Raleigh, NC and together they have 5 beautiful daughters.
