How to Love Your Husband - Sherrie L Slayton
Dedication
My Heavenly Father, who created me, and with Him all things are possible.
"But Jesus looked at them and said, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible
(Mark 10:27 NKJV).
To my sweet husband Bobby, his example of Godly leadership to me and love for me are unwavering. He has never given up on me and encourages me to be all that God calls me to be. He is my very best friend and companion for this earthly life.
Preface
Perhaps, as you are beginning to read this book, you find yourself on the path Jesus describes as broad, and everything seems to be okay. Life may be going great, but times such as these only last so long, and eventually we realize that we need more from life than big houses and nice cars. We need real life, but where can it be found? The story you are going to read is about two people on the broad road who found no life there. I experienced this journey with them. I am the son of these two people. I hope that your eyes will be opened, and you will find an answer to your situation. Let me help you out a little here, the answer is Jesus. More importantly is the journey to Him, the way, if you will. Once you have Him, He never lets go of you. If you have lost your way, then be encouraged. Sure, the gate is narrow, and few do find it, but it is merely one step away. Friend, God is always watching over us, and He loves and knows everything about you, and He wants the best for you.
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV)

Introduction
The inspiration and motivation to write this book began in 1960 when I was born. My father was, of course, a husband and his example is where my training began.
I haven’t always felt like loving my husband no matter what. I didn’t learn this unique and wonderful perspective until I almost lost my husband after the first seven horrible years of our marriage. In the beginning, I thought he was a wonderful man and could not wait to marry him. The promises, hopes, and dreams of a lifetime of romantic bliss were just within my reach. He was perfect, six foot two, eyes of blue, called me his own, and all the rest. But so much for the new beginnings in life. I thought I was doing the right thing, but how can something so right seem so wrong? This is the stuff of country songs, and the problem with country songs are they never last through the fire to see the refinement which comes after.
Women today want it all and want it right now. The ideal marriage, house, kids, career, you name it, and many believe it should all just work out. They forget one thing simple fact about marriage and romance, which is that he is a human being too.
