Part 1
There are some buildings in Waukegan.
And now, I'm on the terrace of one of them.
I look down.
How tall!
Even so, I will not give up.
No!
No way.
There will be twelve floors of free fall.
Everything indicates that I will not survive.
I want to end it all before dark.
It would be nice to have a smoke before it's all over.
What's the problem? I will not die of lung cancer anyway.
I take a drag and feel the smoke burning in my lungs.
What a good feeling!
I hear the door opening.
I look to the side and see a woman going through the only door that gives access to the terrace.
She is fat and has an ugly and listless face. She looks like a woman 40 or older.
She wears old clothes.
When she realizes my presence, she takes a cigarette out of the pack and puts it in her mouth.
She does it all without taking your eyes off me.
— What are you doing here? — She asks.
— The same as you — I say, showing the cigarette in my fingers.
— Who are you?
