We all know the importance of social media for small, medium, and large companies. The positive sides of social networking for individuals are obvious, too. People have an opportunity to connect, share and learn online, which humans could not even imagine in the past.
Social networks can enhance and strengthen friendship. Alice, a 19-year-old student from Great Britain, says: When I use social media I feel joyful, it makes me more outgoing and cheerful.
Researchers confirm, that social networks provide a sense of belonging, people surely feel less alone than before.
Moreover, the use of technology can provide real support. Catherine was on her way to work, when she saw an injured duck in the very center of New York city.
She very much wanted to help, but was hurrying not to be late for the regular business conference. So she took a photo of the bird on her mobile phone and posted it to Twitter, asking her followers for assistance. Her friends shared the picture, and shortly after that, two police officers arrived on the scene. They carefully captured the bird and took it to the nearby animal hospital. The doctors made their best, and the bird soon recovered.
