About this ebook

Scales for Guitar I presents exercises to help you easily learn the major and minor pentatonic and diatonic scales. Learning the scales on a guitar is of the utmost importance for your skills of improvisation and composition. Each of the four scales covered in this book are shown in five positions on the fretboard of the guitar. The goal is that you will know and immediately see all five positions as a single great pattern that covers all strings on your guitar. Practicing these scales in the five positions will give you a deeper understanding of the fretboard and thus improve your guitar playing skills.

    Author’s Note

Thank you very much for your interest in this book and I welcome you. I am ready to help you with any questions you have by email.

I spent many hours writing this book to give my students a clear and practical reference source.

Please, I ask you not to share this material on the Internet or make a photocopy of it, as it is designed for your personal use and benefit. I am a musician just like you and I receive little income for this work where I spent many months writing and organizing the ideas.

I hope this book is useful.

    Thanks!

    Foreword

A musical scale is, in general, a set of sounds ordered in a simple and schematic way.

These sounds are arranged ascending (from low to high) as well as, in a complementary way, descending (from high to low), one by one at specific places within the scale that are called degrees.
