About this ebook
The role of husband and father in the home has an extreme value. Teaching the next generation is a calling that Jack Mayatt fully embraced when he decided to put his heart on paper. The personal stories you will read within these pages are full of humor, personal examples, and wisdom that have been passed down from generation to generation. The truths these stories contain will guide you through your decision making and goal setting in your life, just as they have for the author.
No matter where you are in life's journey, the greatest thing that can happen is to meet a friend along the way who will take the time to pass along what they know. Jack is that kind of friend, and his heart's desire is to help you pass any obstacle preventing you from living the life God created you to live. If your situation feels hopeless, and if you have ever felt lost along the way, prepare to be uplifted, encouraged, and loved. Mindset is everything!

I would like to thank my family for being such a large part of my life. They have encouraged me to fight cancer with a vengeance, and my grand-children, without uttering a word, have pushed me to fight even harder.
Thanks to my wife Jana for being with me during this process of writing, working, and sickness. Although she does not have cancer, she has watched and been a part of this roller-coaster ride, while remaining patient and selfless through it all.
To my children, Rush, Cain, Grant, and Kennedy, thank you for being a constant source of encouragement through this journey.
I would also like to thank the One who made this all possible, my Lord, Jesus Christ. When I was down and weak, He gave me the strength to get up and fight again.
LionI think by waiting, God took a fragile person and turned me into something a little less fragile.

ONE
H3C
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.
John 17:4 NIV
This acronym H3C stands for the values that I want to pass on to generations to come. It stands for a method in which not only a person should live their life, but the way business should be conducted.
The H stands for Honesty and to me it is the most crucial factor of the process. It will either draw people to you or push them away. I have seen many times this one trait destroys families, businesses, and churches.
Honesty does not come easy due to our sinful nature; it must be developed and nurtured. You can relate it to a long-distance runner and the training that takes place prior to the race. You must make a conscious effort to always tell the truth, whether it is large are small. I noticed in the bible lies
are not color coated, so the little white ones, are still lies.
There have been many times in my life and business when I have been asked to stretch the truth in such a way that it is deceiving. It is better to keep silent than to mislead people into believing twisted facts. The truth is easy if you work extremely hard to live in a way that makes it easy. If you think about it, why would you want to lie about doing the right things? It is the darkness we strive to cover up.
The last thing I want to say about honesty is, No matter how well you conquer honesty; it suffers without the three C’s.
I have preached enough about honesty. It is time for the rest of the story.
Commitment
The three C’s start with Commitment, which tells how much you are willing to pour your soul into something. In today’s world, commitment is dying at a rampant pace. I have coached for years, and I have never seen the lack of commitment as we have today.
In the future, there will be many who are unemployed and unwilling to adjust. They will get fired for merely not showing up to work. Parents are signing their children up for a million different activities, knowing they cannot be at ten places at one time. Kids miss practice due to these activities overlapping each other and they are being taught this kind of behavior is normal. Wake-up parents! We must realize this sort of behavior is unacceptable and must be changed. It is particularly important to pick and choose activities that God has blessed us with the ability to fulfill. I have coached children in soccer that would have played the entire season without touching a ball, if it were not for someone kicking the ball into them by accident.
God has given each one of us talents that must be focused on. By focusing on these gifts, God will bless us with success and will give us more abilities as we progress. This reminds me of the story where a master gave each servant a sum of money. The two that were committed to doing right invested it and gained more money. Unlike the two other servants, one was not committed and failed his master by not multiplying his investment.
Regarding the commitment portion of H3C, be committed to using the natural talents God has given you and notice the way He blesses you.
Conviction
Conviction is the second C
of H3C.
Conviction represents the person you are when no one is looking. Have you ever been at work or
