Childrens Book of Bedtime Stories. - George Gentle
Clara and the Runaway Elephant.
Once upon a time, in a small house in the countryside, lived a little mouse named Clara. Clara was an adventurous mouse who spent her days exploring her surroundings, playing with her friends, and looking for new adventures.
One day, Clara was exploring the house when she saw a tall, old grandfather clock in the corner. As she looked up at the clock, she noticed something strange – there was a small door at the top, and it was slightly ajar.
Being a curious mouse, Clara scurried up the tall clock to investigate. As she climbed towards the door, she heard a soft rustling sound, as if something was hiding inside.
Clara pushed open the door, and there, nestled among the gears and cogs, was a beautiful African elephant named Ellie. Ellie was hiding, trying to escape from the circus master who had captured her and taken her away from her home in Africa.
Clara was surprised to see such a big animal hiding inside the clock. She was a little frightened at first, but Ellie looked friendly, so she slowly approached her.
Hello there,
Clara said softly. What are you doing here?
I'm hiding,
Ellie whispered. The circus master captured me and took me away from my family in Africa. I want to go back home, but he won't let me leave.
Clara felt sad for Ellie. She knew what it was like to be away from home and family, and she didn't want Ellie to suffer the same fate as her.
Don't worry,
Clara said. I'll help you get back home. But first, we have to figure out how to get you out of here without the circus master seeing you.
Together, Clara and Ellie hatched a plan. Clara would keep watch for the circus master so they could slip away unnoticed. Ellie would wait in the clock until it was safe to leave.
Days passed, and Clara kept watch. Finally, the perfect moment came. The circus master had left to fetch food for the animals, and Clara saw her chance. She scurried up the clock and opened the door.
Quickly,
Clara whispered, we have to go now.
Ellie stepped out of the clock, and Clara led her out of the house. They ran as fast as they could through the fields and woods, and finally, after days of running, they reached the sea.
In the distance, they saw a large ship sailing towards Africa. Clara knew it was their chance to get Ellie back home.
Come on, Ellie,
Clara said. Let's catch that ship!
Together, they ran towards the ship, and as they reached the dock, the captain saw them and stopped the ship.
What are you doing here?
the captain asked.
Clara explained their situation, and the captain agreed to take them onboard with him.
As they sailed towards Africa, Clara and Ellie became great friends. Clara told Ellie all about her adventures and the friends she had made along the way. Ellie told Clara about her family in Africa and how much she missed them.
Finally, after weeks at sea, they reached Africa. As they stepped onto the shore, Ellie looked around and saw her family in the distance.
Thank you, Clara,
Ellie said. You have been an amazing friend, and I will never forget you.
Clara felt a little sad – she knew she had to say goodbye to Ellie now. She had grown to love her, but she also knew that she had to go back to her family.
Goodbye, Ellie,
Clara said. I will miss you, but I know you will be happy back with your family.
Ellie ran towards her family, and Clara watched her go with a smile on her face. She was happy she had helped her new friend return home.
From that day on, Clara became known as a brave and adventurous mouse, who helped others in need. She never forgot her adventures with Ellie, and she knew she had gained a true friend for life.
The owl who flew to the Moon.
Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a wise tawny owl named Oliver. He used to help the other animals of the forest by giving them valuable advice whenever they needed it. Oliver's home was a tall oak tree, deep inside the forest, where he lived and looked after his family.
One night, while perched on a branch of his oak tree, Oliver looked up at the sky glistening with stars. He wondered how it would be to fly up there and explore what lay beyond. Oliver had always been fascinated by the moon, and he dreamed of visiting it someday.
The next day when Oliver saw a group of animals gathered around him, he told them about his desire to fly to the moon. The other animals were excited and intrigued by the idea, but they thought it was impossible.
Oliver, however, was not deterred by the negative reactions. He knew he had to follow his dreams and accomplish the impossible. So, he set off on his adventure, determined to fly to the moon.
As he soared higher and higher in the sky, he could feel his wings getting tired. But he didn't give up. Suddenly, the moon appeared from behind the clouds. Oliver was amazed by the beauty of the moon and his dream of landing on it became stronger.
Finally, after what seemed like hours of flying, Oliver landed on the moon's surface. He was thrilled to have made it there and couldn't wait to explore. As he went exploring, he stumbled upon the man in the moon!
The man in the moon was a friendly character, and he greeted Oliver with a warm smile. The man in the moon offered a tour of the moon’s surface to Oliver.
Oliver agreed, and they set off for their exploration.
As they walked, they saw a rocket ship, and
