God's Cat Moo

About this ebook
The Story of God's cat, Moo, begins after we made a job-related move to what for us was a big city. Three years later, we departed with two acquired feline friends on a long trip to a new place where we would meet the cat who came to be named Moo. When we first saw her, she was thin, ragged, and very wary. However, she would watch and shadow me when I was out watching over our old cat, who had lost his sight to cataracts. Little piles of cat food were out at various spots in the yard for him to sniff out in an effort to keep him interested and active. As he and I made our way around the yard, moving from one pile to another, Moo would follow behind us for the leftovers. Other times, little piles of cat food were put here and there for her. After a while, she let me touch her, and later she even jumped on Anne's lap. Soon she was coming into the house. When it was time for yet another move, Anne relocated first as I made trips back and forth to deliver house furnishings. My cargo eventually included Moo, who was delighted with her new home in the woods. After some happy years, Moo's health declined, and we had to face yet another painful loss. A site where two others had been interred was extensively upgraded, and she was laid to rest close to them. The next day, I took a picture of the grave site with all its improvements, never suspecting anything unusual. But when the camera was connected to a screen, an orb appeared; and inside that orb, among other figures, was Moo's face looking straight back at me.

Moo's Message
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also. They will heed my voice; so, in the end, there shall be but one flock and one shepherd.
—John 10:16
To Anne, who has adopted and loved numerous hungry and homeless animals; to Ms. Susan, who was always available to look after them when we had occasions to leave town for a few days; and to Ms. Bettie, who shared her own encounter from beyond the grave and gave me the encouragement I needed to tell Moo's story.
It is further dedicated to those of you who have fed and sheltered one of nature's abandoned, dumped, or otherwise rejected critters. Your reward will come, for it is written that if you show compassion to the creatures of this world, then those in heaven shall be compassionate toward you.
Introduction
God's Cat, Moo is the story of a homeless and very wary feline who showed up on our doorstep one day. She was frightened and jumpy to such an extent that we wondered if she had been born feral. Weeks passed before she allowed anyone to approach. Eventually, however, she not only moved in but also became queen of the house, presiding over everything and greeting all who came. Later, she made a move across several states with us. At her new home, things started to get crowded because rural areas seem to attract animal dumpers. Fresh arrivals brought some infractions and compromised her dignity, but she retained her position, and her seniority was generally acknowledged.
Time passed, and advancing age started to weigh on her. In the last two years of the ten that she lived with us, her hearing sharply declined. However, our real concerns lay in the more pressing health problems that were beginning to develop. They were successfully managed for a long time, but by April 2002, things were getting critical. We knew her time was limited. Mother's Day, May 12, was her last day with us. However, that day set the stage for the next. And on that next day, a spectacular image appeared on a digital picture taken at the grave site. That picture combined with another event made it certain that Moo is waiting to
