About this ebook

Jaxson was devious and wanted revenge, there was no doubt of that.
He did everything in his power to make it possible. But things changed. It all turned against him.

Not only was he in love, but he was going to be a father. That was the future, and it was infinitely more important than the past and his need for revenge.
Does the bad guy deserve a happily ever after? Not according to one person... the person who kidnapped his pregnant girlfriend.
The race is on to find Silvia. Will it be in time? Or will her kidnapper's jealousy and malice end all Jaxson's hope for a life with the woman he loves and their child?
Will revenge be an act of passion from which there is no return? Or will love and forgiveness heal all wounds?

    Malicious - Solease M Barner

    JAXSON

I’d been beating the streets ever since she was taken. I worked with some very shady people, and I tried not to piss them off, but that didn't mean I hadn’t ruffled feathers. The panic in Simi’s voice still rang in my ears. Shit, it had been forty hours, and still not a single word. I couldn’t believe someone was brave enough to kidnap Silvia Demetri and also to cross me. I’m willing to do anything to save her at any cost. If that includes busting balls in warehouses, I will do it to protect her and my child.

We have not involved her family because I’m doing everything they would do. My house was turned into a place dedicated to reporting. Simi and I were not sleeping or eating until Silvia was found, and the person who took her was in the deepest part of hell.

I paused all my other clients because, at this point, I couldn’t rule out if they were suspects. My thoughts were all over the place. I was not going to lose her. The weird thing was that there had been no demand for ransom or anything. It was really strange.

Mr. Montgomery, I know you don’t want to eat, but I have made you some of your favorites, and I’m praying Ms. Silvia comes back safe, Lori says.

Slowly dragging my hand over my face, my eyes meet hers. I know they are bloodshot red, either from no sleep or from all the bourbon.

Yeah, I know I should eat, but knowing her and my baby could be…I don’t want to even think about food or anything except seeing her. I gave her a nod of thank you but walked over to the bar and poured another glass of bourbon. At this rate, my nickname will be Mr. Bourbon. I walked over to the big screen set up as the IT team was trying to find the owner of the van. It wasn’t listed, and the man driving it wasn’t coming up in any database.

Logan/Franky was working day and night on this, and since Roslyn, her best friend, wanted to be in on the search, her assistant Franky/Logan was helping, too. It was great because I need all hands on deck right now. No matter the cost. I’m sure Ros has noticed how comfortable I am with speaking with Franky, but I can see him calming her suspicions. I can’t even deal with her crazy at the moment. My lady and baby are missing.

All we need to do is find the guy in the van, and we will find her. Watching the guy on the screen, I intensely hoped to remember anything about him. Maybe he was a guard, a client I passed off, or he was the muscle for someone I worked for before. I can’t recall, but I know I have seen him before. I just need to figure out where.

I want to bring in a friend of mine. She is a computer facial analysis specialist. She would never disclose anything, Mr. Montgomery, Franky asks. I can tell he wanted to say more, but Roslyn was invested. She wanted to know more about the woman, but the way he directed the question at me didn’t sit well with her.

Franky, you can ask me. He was nothing more than her boyfriend. Barely even that. I’m her best friend, more like a sister. You don’t have to ask him shit. If you know someone, you know someone, but...who is this woman you speak of?

Franky/Logan looks at me and then back at her. He was caught between being loyal to me and loyal to Ros. He could be developing feelings for her.

I give him the nod to go to her.

Ros, it’s nothing to be worried about. Helen and I were in college together. Stepping in front of her, he hoped to help relax her.

If she could help bring my friend home, I’ll fly her in myself.

She could. I’ll make the call.

Franky and Ros walked over to a corner away from everyone, and I continued to sip my drink and look at the picture of the driver. It was driving me crazy.

Blair was texting me. She had her contacts looking for Silvia as well. Like I said, all hands were on deck looking for my love.

Just as I was about to leave with Randel to hit the street looking, we ran into Blair.

Jax, I’m so glad I caught you, she says. As she came closer, I hoped to hear some good news.

What do you know? I frowned. Standing tall, some would say aggressive, my only goal was to see if Blair had information on Silvia.

Jax, you’re scaring me. Could you step back some?

Oh, I’m sorry. I’m on edge, Blair. You should know that. If you have something to say, then say it. Don’t hold it out like a carrot.

Damn, Jax. You need to sleep. She would want to sleep and be at your best for her.

I know. Thank you for being such a good friend to me. I just can’t sleep until I find her.

I understand, but you’re not eating or sleeping. How long before you crash, and can’t you help her at all? Please, you know I hate to see you like this. I know it is killing you. It’s killing me. But you must get some rest and, for heaven’s sake, eat something.

I looked at Blair. I could tell how much she loved me and wanted the best for me. Randel just stood there watching. He was waiting to go find Silvia. She was always so nice to him and all the staff.

Blair, you’re awesome. I will get something to eat while out looking for my Silvia. I want to thank you for being here for me and Silvia. I know she would appreciate it.

We hugged. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and another on the forehead. As I got in the car with Randel, he smiled at me.

I already tried years ago, Randel. Nope, we are better as friends. She is one of my best.

    Understood.

I’m just thankful she’s helping me find my true love, Silvia.

    True. Where to Mr. Montgomery?

Let’s try the Fishers. I know they can be revengeful.

My thoughts trailed off to Silvia, hoping she and our child were safe. Hoping that no harm had come to them for any reason. The questions ran through my head over and over again.

    SILVIA

It’s dark and cold in this cell. The bars are rusty. There are gray boxes in the corner, and the only window in this basement is covered. When the light was on, it was dim and flickering. In the dark silence, I can hear the rats and bugs crawling around. Shivering, the fear rises. What is going to happen to me? I am responsible for finding out why this is happening and getting out of this situation.

I want to cry and scream, put my head in the sand, and hide. Yet, that will not make this go away. I’m in a cell in an underground basement, being held against my will for some reason. The problem is I don’t know why.

I am still in shock. When Blair came down the stairs not too long ago, she was so cold. Her words still rang in my ear like a recorder. Hi, Silvia. We need to talk. The fact that she thought we needed to talk about anything and that she kidnapped me is insane. Her sitting in front of me like an angel wearing all white is ironic. She should have been dressed in all black like the Reaper or Darkness because that’s what she is–a pile of black coal. I never would have thought she was capable of something like this, even though her voice sounded sneaky.

Does she know that I’m carrying a child? I’m sure Jax told her. He is probably looking for me. Then I thought of Simi and my family, and the tears flowed. Will I ever see them again?

Then I heard the door opening and heard someone coming down the stairs. My stomach dropped, anticipating what was about to happen. A weird man came into view. He was tall with light brown hair, dark eyes, a scar over his left eye, and a frown on his face that looked like it was always there. I needed to remember these details. When I escaped, I could describe this place and the people.

Ms. Silvia, I have some food for you.

    He came
