Chapter 1 - Autism: What Causes It?
When a doctor informs a parent that their child has Autism, the first and foremost question that is raised is, How did it happen?
How did this disease infect my child?
There is no definitive answer to what exactly causes Autism. However, researchers and doctors are working on a variety of theories.
Surprisingly, it has been discovered that autism is more common in boys than in girls.
Autism was once thought to be caused by emotional trauma. As a result, poor parenting was added to the list of causes. According to the doctors, mothers who do not give their children enough attention and love are a problem. However, with sufficient study and research, these factors were proven to be incorrect.
The most widely accepted theory regarding the causes of Autism is genetic. Some researchers believe that people are born with the proclivity to be autistic. Later on, environmental triggers cause them to become autistic. They claim that there are several genes that cause Autism, but they have yet to identify them.
Environmental factors have been found to have a significant impact on Autism. According to studies, there are several cases of Autism in small towns where people are exposed to high levels of toxins and chemicals.
Typically, towns located near industrial areas or factories have toxic air that causes Autism in children.
Another intriguing theory about Autism is that it is linked to mercury.
They claim that autism was caused by the mercury content in vaccines because it was first diagnosed around the same time vaccines were given.
Today's vaccines contain almost no mercury or thimerosal, or only in trace amounts.
There may also be other risks if the child does not receive these vaccines.
As a result, there is no reason to blame vaccines and thus avoid them in order to prevent
