About this ebook

"Hollow Earth" plunges readers into a breathtaking subterranean world, where the impossible becomes reality. When a Mexican explorer uncovers a vast network of caves, he unveils an extraordinary civilization thriving 28 kilometers beneath Earth's surface. This hidden realm is home to the peaceful "earthers" and, astonishingly, dinosaurs that have evolved alongside them.

The protagonist, bridging two worlds, finds himself immersed in a utopian society where humans and prehistoric creatures coexist in perfect harmony. As the explorer delves deeper into this wondrous ecosystem, he grapples with the dilemma of revealing its existence to the surface world.

The allure of a pristine environment, free from pollution and toxicity, eventually leads to a gradual migration of surface dwellers. This integration of two vastly different societies forms the crux of the narrative, exploring themes of environmental balance, the pursuit of utopia, and the redefinition of intelligent life.

With its unique blend of high fantasy and science fiction elements, "Hollow Earth" challenges readers to question conventional wisdom and imagine the extraordinary possibilities lying just beneath our feet.

    Hollow Earth - Nyx Hawke

The Discovery: A Hidden World Beneath Our Feet

The scorching Mexican sun beat down relentlessly on Dr. Elena Fuentes as she wiped sweat from her brow, her eyes fixed on the jagged opening in the limestone cliff face before her. For months, she and her team had been exploring the intricate cave systems of the Yucatán Peninsula, but this discovery promised to eclipse all others. The narrow fissure, barely visible amidst the lush jungle foliage, seemed to whisper ancient secrets.

Dr. Fuentes! We've cleared enough space for entry, called out her assistant, Miguel, his voice tinged with excitement.

Elena nodded, her heart racing. Excellent. Let's proceed with caution. We have no idea what we're about to encounter.

Do you really think this could be it? Miguel asked, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. The legendary gateway to Xibalba?

Elena allowed herself a small smile. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Miguel. Mayan mythology is fascinating, but we're scientists. We deal in facts, not legends.

As they squeezed through the narrow opening, the outside world fell away. The cave mouth widened into a vast chamber, its walls adorned with strange, swirling patterns that seemed to glow faintly in the beam of their headlamps. Elena's breath caught in her throat. In all her years of spelunking, she had never seen anything like this.

Miguel, are you seeing this? she whispered, her voice echoing in the cavernous space.

It's... incredible, he replied, his voice filled with awe. But what are those markings? They don't look like any Mayan glyphs I've ever seen.

Elena approached the nearest wall, running her gloved hand over the intricate designs. They weren't carved or painted; instead, they seemed to be an integral part of the rock itself, as if they had grown there naturally. I'm not sure these are of human origin at all, she murmured.

As the team ventured deeper into the cave system, the strange phenomena only intensified. The air grew warmer instead of cooler, defying all known laws of subterranean exploration. Unusual rock formations jutted from the walls and ceiling, their crystalline structures refracting their lamplight in mesmerizing patterns. And always, there was that faint, pulsating glow emanating from the swirling patterns that lined every surface.

Days turned into weeks as Elena's team pushed further into the Earth, mapping an increasingly complex network of tunnels and chambers. With each passing day, Elena felt a growing sense of anticipation, as if they were on the verge of something monumental. Yet nothing could have prepared her for what they discovered on the twenty-eighth day of their expedition.

The narrow tunnel they had been following for hours suddenly opened up into a cavern of staggering proportions. Their powerful lamps couldn't even reach the distant walls or ceiling. But it wasn't the size of the chamber that left them speechless – it was what filled it.

Before them stretched a vista that defied explanation. Rolling hills covered in lush, alien vegetation. Streams of crystal-clear water flowing into a distant, shimmering lake. And arching over it all, a sky – impossible as it seemed – complete with fluffy clouds and a warm, golden light that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once.

My God, Elena breathed, her scientific mind struggling to process what her eyes were seeing. It's... it's a whole world down here.

As if in response to her words, a distant roar echoed across the landscape, followed by the beating of enormous wings. A massive shape soared across their field of vision, its long neck and tail unmistakable even at this distance.

Is that... a pterodactyl? Miguel gasped, his voice barely above a whisper.

Elena could only nod, her mind reeling. Dinosaurs. Living dinosaurs, here, beneath the Earth's surface. It was impossible, and yet the evidence was right before her eyes.

As the initial shock began to wear off, Elena's scientific training reasserted itself. She began barking orders to her team, organizing them to set up a base camp and begin preliminary surveys of this incredible new world. But even as she immersed herself in the familiar routines of data collection and analysis, a part of her mind couldn't help but wonder: what other wonders – or dangers – might this hidden world hold?

It was during their third day of exploration
