The DOMDocument::__construct() function is an inbuilt function in PHP which is used to create a new DOMDocument object. Syntax:
public DOMDocument::__construct( string $version, string $encoding )
Parameters: This function accepts two parameters as mentioned above and described below:
  • $version: This parameter holds the version of the document as part of the XML declaration.
  • $encoding: This parameter holds the document encoding as part of the XML declaration.
Below programs illustrate the DOMDocument::__construct() function in PHP: Program 1: php

// Create new DOMDocument
$dom = new DOMDocument('1.0', 'iso-8859-1');

// Display the output
echo $dom->saveXML();

?>
Output:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
Program 2: php

// Create new DOMDocument
$dom = new DOMDocument('1.0', 'iso-8859-1');

// Set xmlStandalone() function to True
$dom->xmlStandalone = "true";

// Display the output
echo $dom->saveXML();
