I am having a hard time finishing this. It is silly and boring. I expected something better from the great Steven King. What happened?

Janet I agree. Once we get past the good part (the beginning, in the real world) as we learn about Charlie and Bowditch, it goes flat.

Is there any reviews from non-King fans? I love his really good books (like 11/22/63, The Stand), but not a fan of his regular books. I'm curious how this books stands up.

is this book more a thriller or horror? I love a thriller, without too much gore but am not good with horror

Federico It is a fantasy book 80s (or even 70s) style. 0% horror here.

Really enjoyed Fairy Tale and found it comparable to my other favorite King book, The Stand. But, does anyone else feel that it somewhat duplicates the Odd, Everyman main characters in Dean Koontz's books? Both are certainly innocence versus horror, and good versus evil. Which came first, King or Koontz, or perhaps, Cormac Mccarthy or James Lee Burke?
