**A BOOK IN A GENRE I WOULDN'T NORMALLY READ**

I read this for the above catagory in the UK Crime Book Club's Book Bingo Challenge 2021 as it includes stories covering horror, romance, and comedy. These are all genres I wouldn't normally read.

The Cellar features an eclectic mix of stories, some of which are as short as a paragraph whilst others are a few pages. The shorter ones reminded me of a more post-modernist approach to writing and many had me thinking about them even once I'd closed down my Kindle. My favourites were The Long Goodbye and The Train Station. If you've read Debbie's other works then you'll enjoy these. If you're new to reading Debbie's work then this is a great introduction. This collection is also recommended to those who don't have enough time to read a full book so would like something short but enjoyable to dip-in and out of. Recommended.

A fun bundle with short stories, some a few pages, some just a page or even shorter. From horror to suspense to weird. Really liked it and loved that the stories varied so much in size. Some of the longer ones were definitely a bit too long for me though, sometimes I just lost thread of what was going on.
I love that some of the stories had some fun twist endings that had me like WAIT WHAT???? NO WAY???
The writing style in this one was good and I am more than eager to read her next book Abberton House which I bought together with this one (oh and 2 sexy books but those are by other authors, haha).
Oh, but in one story the woman was putting on a dressing gown but later when her husband wanted to see the goods this sentence stood out: "My towel dropped for the second time this evening.. " But she is not wearing a towel?????

After reading four other books by Debbie Ioanna I was exited to start on this one, even if it was going to be very different to her others. A lovely little collection of short stories. As a new Mum it was the perfect book for me right now as I can dip in and out, choose a short story or if my little one allows a longer one! A good mix of genres too.

The short stories in this book vary in size, genre and style giving the reader plenty to choose from and showing the diversity of the author’s imagination. I think buttons and lions was my favourite out of the selection.

An incredible selection of moving short stories showcasing an amazing writing talent. The titled story is especially creepy.
