You can't help but root for the protagonist Julie and her love interest Matt, a super-smart, kind-hearted math 'geek' who is completely devoted to his younger sister, Celeste, a quirky kid with lots of issues. The plot was quite predictable with no surprises, and the ending felt a little abrupt, but many contemporary romances hinge on chemistry, and Park does a great job building the tension between the two main characters. The witty repartee is fun, entertaining, and kept me engaged, although Julie's teasing did sometimes cross the line into mean. Still, Julie's devotion to Matt and his family redeemed her in the end, and I find myself unable to let go of these memorable characters....more

I remember holding a 4-week-old trying to understand why my baby needed a vaccine for a virus she had no chance of getting given our lifestyle.
The media plays the vaccine debate as totally black and white, pro or con, and it focuses on illnesses that are public health risks, not on the illnesses that fall into the grey zone. I love that Dr. Thomas makes it very clear there are vaccines you should not think twice about giving - illnesses that could kill or permanently damage your child. But he also isn't afraid to question the necessity of others. All his information is backed by legitimate data.
If you are a parent who is afraid of vaccines, I would urge you to read this book. I think you will find the data compelling, and the approach one that is respectful of a baby's fragile immune system.
But the book is not just about vaccines, it has common sense information about general health and caring for your children from infancy onward. It mixes traditional medicine with more holistic approaches to help families build their kids' immune systems. I really enjoyed this book. I'd say it is a must have for every new parent, and it belongs on your shelf next to "Smart Medicine For A Healthier Child."
The only reason I'm not giving this book 5-stars is because, candidly, I wanted it to go deeper. I wanted to know more about MTHFR, for example, something the authors touch on, but don't really explain. Also, my kids are older now, and I felt like there wasn't enough information about pre-teens and teens. So 4.5 stars from me, and I look forward to more books from this duo. ...more
